Patek Philippe Ref. 5085 Watch Available On James List
In my opinion this is a Patek Philippe watch you just don't see every day. Not sure if it is still being made, but this is a Patek Philippe Ref. 5085 and is quite stunning for what it is. You really don't see a lot of Patek Philippe watches on metal bracelets aside from the sport themed Nautilus. This piece is extremely classic in style, and very legible. The movement is always quite pretty.Interestingly enough there are at least two types of casebacks for this watch. Some have exhibition casebacks and some have solid metal casebacks with the Patek Philippe Calatrava Cross logo on it. Why two versions? I don't think. Not sure if one is more rare than the otherwatches-dealering in a 37mm wide steel case, this isn't a very large watch, but in line with the size of most Patek Philippe classic watches. I love the highly polished rounded steel bezel and very utilitarian feeling hands and hour markers. The hands have thin strips of lume while the hour markers are accompanied by lume squares.

Cleaning just got a little easier
Another new toy that both my wife and I have been shopping around for. An ultrasonic cleaner we bought online. Booklet, says recommended for "Jewelery decorations, opticals & watch chains, commodities, stationery, metal articles, dining appliances".We took rikthewatchmaker's advice and used lots of liquids with lemon in it. His mixture is Lemon ammonia, Mr.Clean Lemon, and Lemon Joy. My wife cleaned all her platinum & gold rings/ with diamonds, earrings, necklaces with pendants and Tiffany jewelery. I cleaned my gold wedding band and my GV bracelet.Just plug in the cleaner, fill it with water and many of the Cleaning solution(s) you can find on the Web (or above from Rik). The unit will power off automatically after running for 3 minutes. Rinse with hot water and dry with a microfibre cloth.Pretty impressive results! Kids love to help out with the cleaning too!

Wanted to throw this one out... Both are on my short list...Which would you rather have?...In my collection I do have a steel 5711 blue dial, would it be too redundant to have another? I've even considered upgrading the steel 5711 to gold while prices are crazy. Would hate to have regrets on that as the light weight of the 5711 makes it one of my most comfortable watches.Thanks,Pete
