Tissot T0554101104700 wrist watches news:
An announcement like this often flies under the radar, until a major watch brands sexes it up with a fancy announcement and by placing it into a new timepiece - but this news is very much worth knowing about. Say hello to what may be a rare oddity or common name in watchmaking in the near future: The Genequand System. It is a new type of balance wheel and escapement system for mechanical watches which promises to lengthen the power reserve of a traditional watch to a month or longer without any changes to the mainspring. That is compared to the 2-3 days of power per single mainspring barrel currently available with most standard mechanical watches. Apparently, it took over 10 years to even get into a working watch movement prototype.Hermes-controlled Vaucher (a Swiss company that produces watch movements) and CSEM (a scientific company dedicated to Swiss micro technology and applied research) worked together in order to produce a working prototype of the Genequand System, which is now
You may notice the stickies have changed at the top of the forum. The Government Time Check and ETA Chart have not disappeared; they've been added to the Horology 101 sticky under the MISCELLANEOUS category. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. Thank you!
Did I miss it? Can someone post the link please or I guess we could start one.
I bought a 1991 14060 private party and love the watch. Unfortunately, it has stopped working correctly (despite winding and a light shake, it'll stop every 30 seconds or so and won't continue). I've priced out independents and they're $500 +\-. RSC wants $700 plus parts. Given the warranty and resale bump by having an RSC service I believe I would rather go that route. I've heard horror stories of vintage dials being replaced, etc so do I write on notes dial and bezel not to be replaced? It also has what appear to be original unpolished lugs so I don't want to ruin them (it won't need much in the way of polishing as it has no significant dings). This is my first watch to send to them and I'd like a little input on the process.
For those of you who have been in one, is there a good selection? I would think since it's an airport and lots of traffic, Rolex will keep supply up in Airport ADs. But hey, who knows...the drought can even be in International Airports. The two story one in Hong Kong Airport looks like Rolex keeps that place stocked. What are your thought on Rolex ADs in airports as far as availability?
