Another Record Year for COSC in 2008
After setting records in 2006 and 2007, the Contr?le officiel suisse des chronom¨¨tres (COSC) once again issued a record number of attestations in 2008 with 1,599,588, an increase of +8.6% over the 2007 results. The number of timepieces submitted rose by 10.6% to 1,676,515. Of these, 1,536,950 were awarded to mechanical movements and 62,638 went to quartz calibers, with the large majority of the latter (56,224) going to Breitling products. Seamaster Issue
Hi,I currently own a 2220.80 seamaster, it is about 2.7 years old and I noticed this morning that it was dead. I wore it all day yesterday and typically that charges it more than enough to stay running overnight. I unscrewed the crown to the wind position and gave 30-40 turns. Normally this is more than enough to get it going however it would move for a second or 2 then stops. More winds resulted in the same behavior. I am wondering if there may be something wrong with it and before taking it to the shop I figured i'd check with the experts here!Thanks,Brandon

I didn't want to do it. Really! I was chugging along, happy with my recent purchases...but when a deal comes along:Couldn't resist a pie pan. It has it's original box too. Took a gamble that the movement is in good shape since there were no pictures.seller's picsI'm weak. At least I have a lot of nice watches to show for it.

TripAdvisor for watches - interesting idea?
Hi Everyone, A little while back while researching vacations with the wife on TripAdvisor, it occurred to me that something similar for watches could be really useful. Specifically, a place where it would be easy to find multiple watch specific reviews left by people who have tested/owned the watch. Unfortunately, many great reviews on forums and blogs get pushed to the later pages of Google search results, and are effectively lost. Personally, reading reviews plays an important role in the 'watch research' phase before I acquire a new piece. Thought I'd post a thread here to see if others find authentic owner reviews important, or if its just me. Panerai Used Values
I'm hoping to pull the trigger very soon; I'm torn between the 533 and 359, but that's another story. I'm buying to enjoy a watch that's completely differently what I already have, not as an investment or anything like that. Does anyone have any idea of how used values of Panerai stack up, or are likely to go, over the coming years?
