Vintage Omega Constellation
Hello to all. I am new to this forum and just found it after doing a search for Omega Constellation watches. My father passed away many years ago and I have had his watch since that time. While it has great sentimental value, I have never worn it and just pulled it out of the safe. I suddenly have a great interest in this watch and would like to know more about it. I would really appreciate it if someone could identify the model and tell me more about this watch. It seems to be keeping good time and the quick date function works. There is some patina on the dial and case so I was wondering if it is advisable to service the watch, and if I do have service by an AD, is there any risk of damaging or devaluing the watch? I'd also like to purchase a nice strap and buckle. Unfortunately, I threw away the original strap and buckle years ago (I was young and stupid) - it is now on a cheap aftermarket strap with a non-Omega buckle. Is water resistant water proof?
I don't have a modern Hamilton but I certainly like the looks of them. Most say "Water Resistant" on the back with 200M or some other measure. Does that mean you could wear it swimming in a pool or submerge it without worry?
