U-Boat 5868 wrist watches news:
At Baselworld this week, Blancpain presented its first annual calendar combined with the GMT function. The Villeret Annual Calendar GMT is equipped with the new in-house automatic calibre 6054F. Find pricing and wallpaper inside. As an annual calendar, the movement requires one date adjustment per year, at the transition from February to March. For all other months, the watch itself moves on from the 30th or the 31st to the first day of the following month. It also has a small 24-hour hand in a subdial at 8 o¡¯clock, which serves as a reference time. The GMT function is provided by the central hour hand of the watch, which is linked to the date. The generously-sized date apertures are arranged to enhance easy readability. This new model is available in white or red gold versions. The hands and hour-markers on the stamped opaline white dial match the material of the case, which is equipped with Blancpain¡¯s under-lug correctors system. The corrector at 1 o¡¯clock changes the day, and the on
The Paul Newman Daytona - next to the Submariner range, this is of the most well-known collectible Rolex watches out there. There is a sort of mythos around the watch given the ambiguous connection to the movie star/pop culture hero, and the extreme fame that the Daytona collection later had. The story of the Paul Newman Daytona is a bit convoluted and complex. There was not just one watch, and Rolex never officially called any piece the Paul Newman Daytona.Unlike some people out there I am not an expert of Rolex watch history or Rolex collecting. In fact, the high-prices that some Rolex watches fetch at auction make me chuckle. For a better historical observation of the Paul new Daytona I will defer to my friend Jake at RolexMagazinewatches-dealer. He wrote a nice summary of the Rolex Paul Newman Daytona here.My favorite part of the Paul Newman Daytona story refers to the indeterminable nature of collecting. People today strive hard to predict what will become a collector's item - and
Bell & Ross added a new complication to the BR-01 series with the BR-01 93. The BR-01 93 GMT adds the a second timezone function that is displayed with a second hour hand on a 24 hour graduated bezel. This automatic-winding timepiece is geared towards travelers. By setting the 24 hour clock to Greenwich Meantime, the local time can be calculated and set quickly and simply. The separate hour hands can also be used to display two preset times. The bold, clean BR-01 design lends itself well to the legibility of both times. The automatic movement is the 2893 calibre from ETA, which gives the watch part of its name. It is a variant of the infamous 2892 and has 21 jewels, a power reserve of roughly 41 hours, and the usual incabloc anti-shock system. It is quite thin at 4,1mm, so the GMT Instrument remains about as thick as the basic BR-01 92. Because of its relatively low profile, this large square watch fits well on an average seven to eight inch wrist. The dial is simply immaculate. To m
I just picked up a 1958 Chapman that's in need of serious TLC. It's missing the crystal as well as the minute hand and the dial has a serious case of dial rash from being unprotected. But I got the 770 movement working fine so once I get the dial refinished all I'll need is a set of hands to go on it.Does anyone know of a good source? I'm not sure what hole size they require either. I'm 99% sure the 14/0 and 12/0 watches (980/982 & 752,753, 754 and 770) all share the same hand sizes. I don't think any of our sponsors trade in such things so I thought it ok to ask. Any suggestions?
(please excuse the poor quality of generic calf strap - it was used only for 'fitting purposes')This discussion comes up often and when folks call Patek, the official 'party lineanswer' is usually: "No it cannot be done"Well...it can be...with simple watchmaker tools and skill it took 5 minutes toremove the bracelet, place the leather strap on, take pictures, remove theleather strap and place the white gold metal bracelet back on....so there you have it.....if you are a fan of 5146/1G on bracelet, you know you can have it on strap as well (Christiaan, how is that fer' you, Pal ?? ;)
