North American Institute of Swiss Watchmaking Celebrates First Graduating Class
The North American Institute of Swiss Watchmaking celebrated its first graduating class on April 2. The Class is comprised of students who have completed a two year program and will receive a North American Institute of Swiss Watchmaking Watchmaker Certificate. The North American Institute of Swiss Watchmaking (NAIOSW) opened its doors in 2009 and is part of The Institute of Swiss Watchmaking (IOSW) which was founded by Richemont in 2008 in partnership with Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program (WOSTEP). WOSTEP is an independent institution that is recognized as an exemplary training center in the field of watchmaking. The largest show of its kind, the Hong Kong watch show is an amazing "Timepiece Extravaganza" (their words) that better reflects the broader watch market compared to the mostly high-end demographic that we tend to focus on when covering Baselworld or SIHH.One of the most interesting aspects of the show is being able to understand what technology or material is really becoming popular and mass produced. Saw a No-Date Submariner with HOLES at A.D.
So I thought these things were pretty much gone. I popped into the jewlery store the other day to see my friend that works there and I happened to see a Submariner, NO date, NO C.O.S.C., and holes drilled through the lugs. What REALLY confused me is that it was a Z Series. I thought they eliminated the lug holes well before the Z Series, or maybe I'm wrong? Someone help me out here?
