Ulysse Nardin 8103-101ec-3c/20 wrist watches news:
What would you do if you had been producing a successful product for 20+ years for one big customer, and then that contract went away?? Would you stop production? Shift your production focus elsewhere? Find a new market or customer? This is the problem Hamilton Watch Company faced in the mid-1980s.? The customer was the U.S. military, and the product was the small field/navigator watch.Hamilton had been producing small field and navigator watches for the government under the GG-W-113 and MIL-W-46374 specifications since the mid-1960s.? When the government decided in the mid-1980s to stop purchasing and issuing large batches of military design specification watches from Hamilton and other manufacturers, Hamilton was left with 20+ years of manufacturing experience and equipment for these watches.? Rather than scrap the gear, Hamilton decided to get creative and found a way to keep making the watches.? The company negotiated contracts with a few outdoor equipment and gadget retail stores
I acquired a ladies Elgin a while back in a group of watches. I wasn't much interested in it until I happened to look up the movement # and found it was produced in my father's birthyear. Anyone interested in playing wrist watch serial # liar's poker? My father passed three years ago so I thought my step mother might like the watch as a memento. I cleaned everything up. The movement had a broken balance staff so I transplanted a donor. My problem is the donor balance had a tweaked hairspring. So far I have had terrible luck trying to reform an overcoil or flatten a stretched hairspring and this one is no exception. Can anyone point me to a source for a new one? I would also like to replace the mainspring. Mainspring specifications are still like a foreign language to me. What are the magic numbers and end types for an Elgin 430? Would you recommended installing a + strength spring and is such a thing available? Thanks, Joel
Posted this in another forum.NICE!!!!! The pics dont do it justice, A friend of mine has one and it looks GREAT, brown belt/shoes and that watch on a brown strap = SHARP look. And only for 2000 USD, watch is over 41MM. Really beats the Longines Sport collection both in looks and value! My AD doesnt have it and cant find it online, would jump on this like nobodies buissness.
Could anyone who attended the 175 event post live photos of 5575?Thank you!
Can you change out from Jub to oyster on DJ 41.
