- I got this watch for my mom and was very pleased with how it looked. Classy and a bit modern too... I liked the fact that it's a two-tone. My mom was thrilled to get it. She tells me how great it is every day now! :)

This watch features retro-styling, but is very applicable to modern life with its simple to interpret dial and convenient self-winding movement. These are anxious times, as any concerned parent will attest. A career path in watchmaking is not something very often offered to kids leaving school. Before we know it, we're off to college or straight into the world of work without so much as acknowledging the continued existence of horology. These days, I'm so ingrained in the watchmaking industry, it stuns me when people express amazement that assembly and after-sales processes are performed by real humans, not super-accurate machines. But you needn't spend much time at the knee of an old watchmaker to understand why. The mechanics of haute horlogerie are not quite the same as anything else. And it isn't about intricacy, per se, it's about experience; it's about all the silly little things that don't make rational sense; simply put, it's all about time. Patek Philippe have underlined their understanding of this fact by investing in an on-site school at their New York service centre.By running a two-year course, dubbed the Patek Philippe Horology Programme Of New York, focused on equipping new
Greetings Rolex fans! I had an interesting thought a couple weeks ago that I had shared with John Holbrook in response to his article about the Parachrom Blue hairspring, and now that I've got a little bit of time, I thought I'd share it with everyone else. John's article prompted me to do some thinking. As I was admiring my two tone GMT-IIc the other day, I wondered, as many here had wondered, why Rolex didn't "move up in the series" (for lack of better terminology) and advance the number, making this watch the GMT-Master III. After all, it did seem logical, many of us reasoned. I had figured, and this was strictly a theory, but my thought was that even with all the great features added (better clasp, ceramic bezel, green anniversary script,maxi-dial, triplock crown, "super case") even all that wasn't enough to warrant calling it III, however, surely with a MAJOR change, like having the 3186 in the watch and the parachrom blue, that would call for a new number! Conversely, perha
This Benrus was purchased on eBay, and I sent it out for service/cleaning/rehab, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I don't know if it's ok (with either the site or the watchmaker) to give the name of the man who did the work. Here's why you opened this thread, photos:IMG_9494.jpgIMG_9493.jpg
I'm looking for a skeleton watch that is no 8mm tall, and i'd like shorter. It should be basically bare bones, with as few gears as possible.I don't want it to be too pricey, but instead something I can wear while out and not worry too much about without having it damaged. So something under say, 1200 bucks or so. I might go up to 1500 if it looks nice enough.Basically, something that looks like but preferably around 6mm - 8mm tall, with a width ranging from 35ish (if 6mm tall) to around 42.5 (if 8mm tall).I've searched for house with zero luck, and basically any help I could get would be amazing. I'd even go with a crappy Chinese replica if it's thing enough and looks nice enough.
