- I bought this for my husband as a gift and he really loves it. It is heavy and made well and looks like a mans watch. The watch was too large so he had two links taken out and even the jeweler mentioned what a nice watch it was.

Ulysse Nardin 8103-101EC-3C/22 wrist watches news:
The tourbillon is the watch muse for Greubel Forsey. Every single one of the timepieces made by the brand has had one, two or even four of this high precision mechanism. This year though, the duo are mixing things up. The Signature collection is taking the brand up a notch. The idea is that a guest watchmaker designs a timepiece. They may have free reign in their technical decisions but the piece must adhere to precise specifications regarding the quality of the technique and design that Greubel Forsey is known for. Didier Cretin, behind the Double Tourbillon Technique in 2009, is the first watchmaker to set out on the adventure. The long-term collaborator brings us the Signature 1 with a manual wind movement inside the smallest case to be made by the brand at 41.4mm. There's no complication, just an off-centre hour and minute display, subtle small seconds and balance wheel. Less is more. Price on request (33 gold and platinum models, 33 steel models). Dan Diaconu
I sometimes wonder, when we post pictures and articles of watches like this, or this, or even this, whether we are not inadvertently creating the impression that we spend most of our time at Chateau Hodinkee alternating between sippin’ Darjeeling on the veranda with our pinkies out, and upbraiding Manservant Jeeves for being slow with the Pol Roger and caviar at teatime. When you’re heavy into mechanical watches there’s a sort of creeping tendency, over the years, to make the unspoken assumption that all other things being equal, you get what you pay for – which is to say, if it’s not expensive it ain’t much. The fact is, though, that really good design, quality in execution, and even real horological charm, to say nothing of a healthy helping of history, can be had for less than the cost of what my long-suffering spouse and I spend on dry cleaning every week. (I'm confused where to put this because while this is a German brand, it is Swiss movement. Anyways...)I'm thinking of this watch. It costs about US$4,660. Please tell me if I can do better in this price range. My criteria:* must be new* must be automatic* must have 'useful' inner dials(?) showing day and date (I like the chronograph look but don't like the usu timer functions of hour/min/sec, which would be useless for me)* power reserve meter would be niceThanks in advance.MONTBLANC - Watches - Timewalker - Large Automatic Retrograde
