New Options for the Calibre de Cartier
Last year Cartier launched the Calibre de Cartier line powered by the brand’s in-house 1904-PS movement. The watch represented an important step for the brand. Despite the clearly sporty aesthetics, the Calibre de Cartier was available only on a strap. At SIHH 2011, a new and decidedly more sporting version debuted on a bracelet. Find pricing inside. The new models are available in stainless steel with black or silver dial, and in 18K rose gold and stainless steel with a silver dial. The bracelets feature wide polished center links and thinner brushed outer links with a deployant-style folding clasp. At 42mm x 10mm, the case dimensions have not changed. INCOMING! Platinum A. Lange 1 Moonphase
One of my most exciting watch purchases: My new A. Lange 1 Moonphase in Platinum. The watch has the moon phase, power reserve, and outsized date complications. The 398 part 54 jewel German Silver movement is beautifully decorated. The case measures 39mm and weighs in at 142 grams. I also enjoy this particular moon phase. Many companies claim that their moon phase is accurate within 1 day per 122 years¡­except that it only changes once or twice a day. So at any given time, it could be off by almost an entire day every day. Not with the Lange. The solid gold moon phase wheel is driven continuously from the hour wheel, so a clutch mechanism was required so that setting the moon phase would not affect the running of the watch. This resulted in an astounding 93 individual parts being devoted just to the moon phase mechanism. I also enjoy this Lange because it is powered by two barrels, giving it a 72 hour power reserve. Panerai Mind Boggle
I would like to acquire a Panerai sometime this year. I am having a few holdups and wanted everyone’s opinion. Below I will list what I know/want.- I love the open case back ala 112- I love the icon logo ala 000- I think I prefer the old ETA movement over the new in-house but not 100% on this fact- I do not want any date / power reserve etc basically a base color doesn’t matter technically just a simple face is the criteria - I believe the “older” models have a screw down back over a newer designMy biggest problem is the simple fact if I can get a new 8 day in house movement with an msrp of 6k for 4-4500 vs a used 112 for 3800-4400 do I see the value in the more preferred dial(not reading 8 days), and easier eta movement for years to come? Or just go with a brand new piece due to the close proximity in price.I also am not knowledgeable on the difference of series, if anyone can shed some light for me?I know I have a lot of criteria and some are impossible and

slotted spring bars in place of lug screws
I notice that Micah has interesting springs bars intended to replace lug screws. I am thinking of picking these up for my 372 to make strap changes easier and reduce the chance of messing up the lugs with an errant slip of a screw driver. Anyone using these now?
