Hey I wonder where the Oris crowd goes to get their watches clean and oiled. I reached out to Oris and their authorized rep and was told about $100 but usually more like $400. I know my coworkers has sent his Oris' in form time to time, he said its been always more then he'd thought and the turn around time he felt was very slow. So rather then going back to Oris are there any other recommendations? The watch runs fine I just think that it could use some maintenance to keep it that way. The fact it cost $1200 new in '95 $400 seems a bit high. I'd heard to figure about 10% of the retail for a service. The more it cost the more you should expect to pay. Thanks in advance for your responses
What a friend told me to be imminent in February already seems to have come to a head yesterday. This morning I learned from him that Vostok, the Russian brand, is having to give up the fight for survival. The short term debts of the company (approx. US$ 1.0 mio) and the dire market situation in Russia brought the company to its knees. The original of the article is found here. The English translation is below:Arbitration Court of Tatarstan Having considered this week, a declaration of insolvency of the plant, confirmed him a member of the interim governing self-regulated organization of arbitral managers of natural monopolies fuel and energy complex (SEMTEK) Andrei Volkov. Watchess.jpgGreetings Everyone,I am new to the forum through I have been trolling around for some time checking out what people are buying. I have a pretty extensive collection ranging from lower cost watches to high end watches.I have about 30 total in my currently collection and compiled 10 of them for the purpose of a game.I have reduced the quality and size of the picture to make it more difficult to determine. Can anyone identify the Make and Model of each watch in the case? Winner...well...wins.I need Brand AND Model..example: Rolex Daytona NOT just Rolex.
There are these yahoos who think the world is going to end this Saturday, May 21 (of course their out is that it is the start and a day October is the big date). So I am wondering, what watch to wear this Saturday? Would a chronograph be appropriate? If, as they say, we have to suffer for a few months, a chronograph makes sense as it would be helpful to time out the wait. I doubt a diver's watch would be in orderthe last time the world ended a good waterproof watch would have been handy but apparently not so this time around. I think a watch that is fire proof might be appropriate (if the trip is downstairs) or a pilot's watch (figuring going upstairs and hanging in the clouds).
