1918 Elgin Trench Watch with a STAR Cushion Case ! ! !
Hey guys !ALMOST all of the time when you see an American cushion case trench watch the case was manufactured by the Illinois Watch Case Company and sometimes by Joseph Fahys & Company.This is one of the rare exceptions to that rule!This cushion case was manufactured by the Star Watch Case Company!The STAR cases are EXTREMELY difficult to locate and obtain.It's the ONLY one that I've found over the past 4 years.The main difference is in the lug design.The lugs on this STAR case go all the way out to the tips of the cushion case and they are tapered, meaning that they get narrow at the ends where the strap is attached.They are very thick measuring 2.25mm in diameter and they will take a larger strap measuring 16mm wide..This watch has simply the BEST of everything!The 15 jewel movement (grade 464) was the best that Elgin produced in 1918 and it looks like it was just made yesterday, one of the cleanest movements that I ever seen.The STERLING SILVER case measures 40mm lug tip to lug

Consistently losing time
Hi. My Aquanaut has been losing 6 seconds a day over the past 2 months. I have tried putting it in various positions when its not on my wrist (crown up, crown down, face up, face down...etc). I was planning on going to Henri Stern on Monday to see if they can either take the watch to fix this or am I being overly demanding? Any opinions will be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks, many thanks to you guys that have given me incentive I hope this piece would be a special one to cherish.At first, I was appalled with cost and the simplicity -- also that it sports a simple and non inhouse movmt, present also in the Speedy pre moon.I had to be schooled and now I realized that, sometimes, less is more . Well, I had to switch several pieces, but I come to a conclusion that one Lamborghini is better than a dozen Beetles..... although I loved my Beetles ....And if you allow me to say , la semplicit¨¤ ¨¨ l'ultima forma della sofisticazione. RSC question
I was in NYC this last weekend and wondered into the Rolex building. I just recently acquired a Pepsi GMT. I have been having problems with the crown now winding. They told me that it needed a service and a new crow. The total is about 800 dollars. Does anyone know what the RSC does for a full service to the watch? does it basically come back like new??
