Archimede Introduces the Pilot XL Automatik
Following the launch of their 42mm Pilot and 39mm Pilot M, Archimede introduces the Pilot XL with a 45mm brushed stainless steel case. Below the anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal you’ll find a classic Pilot dial with luminous numerals and indexes and large, luminous, blued hands, providing excellent readability, even in low light. The 8mm crown compliments the case and makes winding and time setting a breeze. The case, measuring 10mm thick, is water resistant to 50 meters. The Swiss Eta 2824-2 automatic movement can be viewed through a screw-down mineral crystal display back. A solid case back is also available. The 22mm straps are soft leather with traditional white stitching and two rivets on each side. The Pilot XL on black or brown strap with transparent case back retails for €395.

I'll be really frank that I have no idea who or what Zep is. I mean I know a bit more now after researching and writing this article, but seeing his little smoke plume-haired character for the first time was a novel experience. I guess it is a Swiss/European thing. WhatTin Tin makes it international but Titeuf and Asterix are Euro only? Having said that, I do love cartoons and comics of all varieties. The Plo Prof was a fairly rare site until the relaunch by Omega in 2009. The original was a divers tool watch which was designed at the end of the 1960s and released at the beginning of the 1970s with the input of well known diver and underwater explorer Jaques Cousteau and the professional COMEX divers. As a result the design breaks the mold from generic watch design with a definite function over form aesthetic that most find quirky at best and down right ugly at worst. The watch was mostly bought by professional and hobby divers. Used and abused as a proper tool watch. Therefore, original Plo Profs in any kind of decent condition are very rare and auction prices have now reached $20,000 plus.
