Just stumbled across this fantastic web site that will make any one of us jealous and awe struck at the same time.I think GJ will be particularly interested.freewebs/omegauk/I hope this is OK to post here. He doesn't seem to be selling anything.
Okay, so I'm considering a Seamaster Chrono Diver and one thing that gives me pause is the Caliber 1165 which is a re-worked Valjoux 7750. It's a bit inelegant, heavy, and I even hear you can feel it wobble on your wrist. That said it is quite the rugged and reliable workhorse and as a result is used extensively by many manufacturers. Not sure how extensively Omega modifies it for their use - some claim less, some claim more, but for some reason it bugs me a little that there are $500.00 watches out there with the same basic Valjoux movement. Outsourcing a movement is fine for say Hamilton, but with a timepiece in the class of Omega I eel I should expect more. Am I out of my head here? Also, I have to wonder if Omega is not developing a replacement for the Cal 1165. I have nothing to base that on other than my gut, and I understand there are impediments to bringing a new chronograph movement into production, but I have to think that would be in Omega's sights sooner rather than later. In a previous thread of yours I read that you where playing with the idea of getting yourself ''another'' Pepsi GMT II..right?, right!I know why you sold it, and I would have done the same thing..But the good ole Pespi always smiled at you, didn't it?C'mon John, don't you hear it calling your name??:D:D:D:DA great classic...You ''need'' one...And what a great gift for your son in a few years...;)
I have fairly small wrists, and it seems that a lot of the slide rule watches out there are huge. Are there any more mid-size ones out there (like 40mm or under)? I don't need anything too complicated, just want to be able to do speed-distance-time calculations and other basic slide rule calcs. Thanks!
