Audemars Piguet 25979ST.0.0002CA.01 wrist watches news:
The Vacheron Constantin M¨¦tiers d¡¯Art Savoirs Enlumin¨¦s Watches are raising the in-house bar for one of horology's most respected players. In the past, the Vacheron Constantin?M¨¦tiers d¡¯Art watches have impressed with their stunning visuals and their stubborn insistence on maintaining the craft skills of yore. Grand Feu enamel, precious gems, hand-engraving, and guilloche patterns?have illuminated dials that often stick in your mind's eye. When it comes to?illumination, however, it is the latest range from Vacheron Constantin that takes things to a new level. The?Vacheron Constantin M¨¦tiers d¡¯Art Savoirs Enlumin¨¦s watches with "illuminated" dials take their design cues from the Aberdeen Beastiary ¨C a 12th century text that contains a wide range of human knowledge and beliefs from the period.Effectively a device to represent an entire paragraph, an illumination in this sense is an image placed at the beginning of a body of text. These are most often seen in historical documents and were
I know towards the end of their existence in Elgin, Illinois, Elgin had a few watches using Swiss movements with day and date displays (1965?). But that was extremely late to the party.I'm not an expert on this subject, and I'm not sure what Gruen or Hamilton had to offer in terms of day/date movements, but I know that Benrus, in the late 40's used a modified ETA 900 movement for their Calendar line of watches. So, why didn't they? Elgin was using some Swiss movements in the 50's. Why didn't they use some with date functions?Didn't the lack of date and or day displays put Elgin at a competitive disadvantage?

Well, these arrived today:But the Wittnauer has an issue. When I started winding it, first nothing was happening, and I wasn't hearing that little click, click when I held it to my ear as I wound it. Also, it didn't start. After a few more turns of the crown, the crystal popped off.So, I tried a little experiment, and wound the crown with the movement out of the case and crystal. Worked like a charm, clicking, running, etc.So, I tried to put the crystal back on, lining up the little nubs that go around the stem, and it snapped back on. However, it now won't wind again, and there is a gap on the stem side of the case, and I can easily pop the crystal off with a fingernail. So here are my thoughts:A: This watch does not have the proper stem and/or crown, preventing the crown from being pushed in far enough to wind, and preventing the crystal from popping all the way onB: It either has the wrong crystal, I'm not getting the little spot on the crystal for the stem lined up just perfe
