How to Open a Hamilton Thin-o-Matic?
After reading a bunch of Hamilton posts, I jumped in and bought an eBay Thin-o-Matic. It's running about 6 minutes fast per day, so I thought I'd open the watch and adjust it. From what I've read, I buy a crystal puller and pull the crystal. I'm a quartz watch guy and this seems to violate all laws of nature. Then the stem gets pulled with some careful, controlled "oomph" and the face is free. From there, I can access the back of the mechanism and slow things down.Could someone please confirm the order of operations?I'd love to share my fears, thoughts, and details about watch and purchase (paid $200) but don't want to be a needy newbie. Lovely Vintage Girard-Perregaux Olimpico
After a wait of nearly six months I am happy to report that I am the new owner of a G-P Olimpico ca, 1976.It's in excellent condition having just undergone a complete servicing at G-P SA. La Chaux-De-Fonds.It measures 39mm by 43mm and is 14mm from crystal to case. The dial is 32mm across. The sub-dials include a small seconds at 9 o'clock, a 30 minute counter at 3 o'clock and a 12 hour register at 6 o'clock.The dial includes a Tachymetre/Pulsiometer, and the bezel is a non-rotating dive timer.The pristine crystal is domed plexi, and the strap is 18mm wide and includes a G-P signed buckle.The movement on the watch is an Excelsior Park 40 calibre.I am glad to report that this lovely timepiece was definitely worth the wait.
