Audemars Piguet 15300OR.OO.D088CR.01 wrist watches news:
Hi all,I have a question as to my ww2 Seikosha marked pocket chronograph, 17,1/2 ligne, 17 jewel...Was the movement imported from Switzerland and later marked Seikosha on the movement? The movement looks like a Valjoux 54. The Valjoux stamp which is usually on the movement below the balance has been milled away and replaced with a number. Was this movement made in Switzerland or made in Japan?I know Seikosha imported Longines movements, as Hattori was the main dealer/representative in the Asian part of the world, up till world war 2.Regards
I vaguely remember either reading somewhere or being told that in general one side of a watch bracelet should be longer (have more links) than the other side in order to keep it balanced on the wrist, and that the clasp should not be centered under the wrist.Has anyone found this to be true, or is there a general "rule of thumb" about this?I've got a friend whose watch keeps wanting to rotate a bit around his wrist, but it really can't be a whole link tighter. Thanks!
First off Fellas I have to say this seems to be a very nice little community. I've been reading for a few days and am impressed by all the great information that flows around here. Here's my situation. For my 27th birthday my fiance decided she wanted to buy me a nicer watch. I've worn Bulova & Swiss Military for years. To make a long story short, I had pretty much settled on buying a TAG Auquaracer (quartz) from a local AD. It has the styleing that I like, and falls within the 1K give or take a little price range. Then I found another neat little local shop that sells pre-owned, and realized I could get into an Omega, Bretling, etc. for well within my price range. Then I couldn't decide on automatic or quartz, and then I found some wonderful forums and really got all confused. So what I need are some good recomendations on a good first watch for the collection, this will be an every day wear kinda watch that will see Jeans and tshirts as well as a shirt and tie. I'm just really co
