Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic For 2009: Return Of A Classic, Again
If there was ever a watch that defined a brand it is the Khaki line for Hamilton. They have actually imparted the "Khaki" name on scores of watches, but the Field Khaki is the basic original military watch that started the trend. A popular watch for decades the original models were tiny by today's comparisons often being 33mm wide. Those are smaller than most women's watches today. The New Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic will be available in two (reasonable) sizes at 40mm and 44mm wide. I would love to wear the 44mm wide version in this classic style. The watches also get a lot of upgrades. These include the sapphire crystals, applied hour markers and Swiss automatic ETA 2824-2 movements. Servicing period for a non daily wearer
The servicing period of a mechanical watch, is 5 to 7 years, right?Now, I guess that this period is for a watch used as a daily wearer, or not?How about servicing watches that are beign used just a day in a two or three week period? do they have to be serviced in the same 5 to 7 year basis? considering that they are not working during the off-wrist time (no winder), just sitting stopped...

Seeking knowledge about two vintage watches
Here are two old watches that belonged to my dad in the 1940s. The one on the left is a Harman, and has "Swiss" below the six o'clock marker. My dad (who died in 1994) obviously wore it during WWII. He had his name and Army serial # (matches the dog tags I have) engraved on the case back. The other watch is made by Regina. I read that Harman was founded in 1936 and specialized in making stopwatches for the military. I know nothing about Regina, other that reading that there may be a connection to the Omega Co.Thanks for looking, and thanks for any input/knowledge you have to share about these watch companies.

The two watches I built (hint: ETA 7750 & 2824)
During the months of December and January, these have been my two project watches. I always wanted to experience a chronograph, and I wanted my son to have an automatic watch, so I assembled a ETA 7750 watch for myself and a ETA 2824 for my son's 12th birthday. Look closely and you will see his name engraved on the rotor. I did run into a glitch with the winding stem while assembling the 7750.
