Audemars Piguet 26265fo.oo.d002cr.01 wrist watches news:
A simple question from a total watch noob. I was going through some old stuff in my parents basement and stumbled across a few old watches. I found a rolex, and my mother was the kind of person who'd own a real Rolex(malpractice defense attorney). The problem is that I noticed the lens on it is cracked and made of plastic. Seems too cheap of a feature to be on a Rolex, but also it seems it would be too much of a giveaway on a fake since the rest of the watch looks very convincing. Did some Rolex watches come with a plastic lens on it?If it helps, it has a faded sticker on the back with the logo and the number 6917 printed on it. It is a women's "Oyster Perpetual Datejust" with a magnification lens over the date. I should probably get it appraised, but I'd like to save myself the embarrassment of walking in with an obviously fake rolex if that's the case.
Picked this one up about a month ago and put a new movement in it. Really like the way it feels on the wrist very light and it looks good too....Picture 013.jpgPicture 011.jpg
Read on another forum that the seiko 7s26 is made in malaysia and is not made in Japan but the Miyota (citizen) movements are. Is this a load of BS or is it true? Not that I care anyway but it's an interesting fact if it is true. And IF it is true, are all seiko movements made there too? Please fill me in so I can know for sure. Thanks!
I felt I must post this thread even though I have no photos of it yet. My 2011 Speedmaster cal 9300 ( 2 sub-dial version on Allogator strap) the watch that I have had on order from My AD since August, came in yesterday. Although it's been available for a month or so now at Boutiques I have had no luck getting mine until I contacted Omega customer services who stepped in and sorted for me. Excellant service and a very helpful lady. It is an amazing speedy and definately the most comfortable Omega I own to date. I will post photos as soon as I can. This is the Omega photo of it
I am in the midst of building a nice little library of books covering those watches owned in past or present. One notable absentee is a PP Nautilus or PP Steel watches. In keeping with their watch namesakes they seem to cost a fortune and On the basis It will be an occasional read it's not worth the money.I keep looking on eBay but have drawn blanks. Has anyone out there got a book they may be looking to sell or have tips were to look.
