Audemars Piguet 25831RC/O/1110RC/01 wrist watches news:
The “F” in MB&F stands for “friends” ¡ª and the iconoclastic, independent watch brand’s circle of friends expanded last night, as WatchTime, in partnership with London Jewelers and MB&F, hosted an exclusive private dinner with Max B¨¹sser (the “MB”), owner and creative director of MB&F. Twenty collectors were treated to a three-course dinner, along with cocktails and Champagne at the ever-elegant The Mark by Jean-Georges restaurant on Manhattan¡¯s Upper East Side. (MB&F’s “robo-clock,” Melchior ¡ª something of a mascot for the brand ¡ª was also in attendance.)The highlight of the evening was B¨¹sser¡¯s inspirational and candid presentation on his childhood and early interest in the watch industry. Among the topics he discussed were his early successes and failures, along with the sense of fear that he admits still feeling each time he creates a new watch. Collectors listened with rapt attention as B¨¹sser, an animated
I bought this Ingersoll Roy Rogers & Trigger character watch yesterday that was in a job lot of watches (circa 1954). I actually wanted another watch that was in the lot of four so the Roy Rogers watch is just a bonus. I have never bought/sold/collected any American character watches from the 1950's before. The dial appears to be in pretty good condition and it has the original hands. The crystal just needs to be replaced to drastically improve the overall condition. The case has a few minor nicks but I can fix that with no problem. The watch is not running. Probably just has a cheap dollar movement inside the case. The crown appears to be original as well for an Ingersoll. Does WTF think that this one is worth restoration?
Today I accidentally had to deal with TNT Couriers over a dumb parcel at work. Basically, a "smart" secretary ordered a few items from UK delivered to Switzerland, despite the fact from the very beginning they had to go to UKAnywhoo, at the end we didn't have to pay any import duties in Switzerland, nor similar in the UK, as the TNT guy marked the parcel as "Return to Country of Origin".So, I am in Switzerland and mad about watchesguess how I put above in context? My question to you is the following: If I buy a swiss-brand watch (say a Rolex) from the USA, pay by Bank Wire and request it labelled with "Return to Country of Origin" - would that mean that no import/VAT duties will be required? Would that in some way put at risk the insurance value of the shipment?Have you come across similar "backdoors" to the shipping system which allow you to safely send items - properly insured, but cleared of import/VAT? Thanks for sharing your thoughts
So I have a breitling Evolution, and I looked down at my wrist and noticed that the middle crown screw is gone :( I have had the breitling evolution MOP face for about 8 years now and Im sure it's due for a service, I just emailed breitling and going to call them tomorrow for a quote... have any of you sent your watch directly into breitling to have them overhaul it? how long does it take? and if not there do you have any other recommendations on how to fix it ?
Recently acquired a 69178 with supposedly a rare white onyx dial.At this moment I cant seem to post a picture. have been browsing on white onyx dial. only finding black onyx dials.Anyone know anything about the existence of these dials?thanks!
