Baume & Mercier 8791 wrist watches news:
Chopard has just announced that it will debut a new luxury watch brand under its corporate guidance and ownership in 2014 celebrating the work of historic Swiss watchmaker Ferdinand Berthoud. Technically a new and distinct company, the new brand will be located in Fleurier near Chopard in the Val-de-Travers canton of Switzerland. The new brand will officially be called La Chronom¨¦trie Ferdinand Berthoud, and is reportedly located just a few miles from where Berthoud himself was born in 1727.Ferdinand Berthoud was a contemporary of Abraham-Louis Breguet. Both were Swiss and both moved to Paris to produce clocks and watches for civil, military, and scientific use. Many of Berthoud's creations are still in existence today, and some have been sold at auction for a tidy sum. Though if a new brand incarnation of his persona were to become successful, then it reasons that his work will be valued even more. Chopard reportedly purchased the rights to the name in 2006 and has been working on the
The A. Lange & S?hne Zeitwerk is a modern marvel, and regularly tops the list of editors' and collectors' favorite pieces of the last half-decade or so.? So, when Lange introduced an entirely new limited edition of this ultimate in digital display mechanical watches with a meticulously hand-engraved dial called the Handwerkskunst, Lange enthusiasts went giddy with joy.? So much so that all thirty of this thirty piece limited production run have been reserved, meaning even if you wanted one of these, you couldn't get it.? 2 OF 16 But, while I was down in Palm Beach with A. Lange & S?hne for the grand opening of their first North American boutique (which we will show you in great detail shortly), we had the chance to go hands-on with this absolutely incredible piece of work. 3 OF 16 The case of the Zeitwerk Handwerkskunst is 41.9mm in diameter and made entirely of platinum, with polished bezel and lugs and brushed sides.? But what makes this particular watch

A mechanical watch can have hundreds of parts, all obviously being very important. One of the most vital parts in a movement would be the escapement/balance wheel. These components regulate the accuracy of the timepiece. The escapement propels motion to the balance wheel and the balance wheel swings back and forth, acting as a pendulum, to regulate the movement of the second hand. The swinging of the balance wheel is often referred to as the "heart beat" of the watch, and with each beat, it allows the second hand to advance an allotted amount. Older watch movements had 5 beats per second (18,000 bph), advancing the second hand 5 "ticks" per second. Today, most movements have a rate of 8 beats per second (28,800 bph) or 8 advancements, that can measure up to 1/8 of a second. Starting in the late 60's, about 12 manufactures (one being Seiko) have made 10 beat per second movements (36000 bph) that seem to be extremely difficult to find from most manufacturers today.GSSBGH001-1 by J
