Baume & Mercier 10038 wrist watches news:
Mention the name URWERK to the watch community and it¡¯s instantly recognizable for the cutting edge case design and unique time tracking system. Today, Felix Baumgartner and his company are accepted into the haute horlogerie community as brethren. But it wasn¡¯t always this way. Remember, it¡¯s the Swiss we¡¯re talking about. As a nation, they are conservative and traditional, with a skeptical wait-and-see attitude. You can just imagine the watchmakers¡¯ lips pursing and their noses turning up upon first laying eyes on URWERK¡¯s first creation, the UR-101. It actually looks a bit like a mini UFO a la "The Jetsons" with its rough-hewn stainless case and glass aperture.Although URWERK¡¯s success seems so obvious now, Felix reminded me over lunch a couple weeks ago in Los Angeles that it took 10 years for the company to gain respect. Nonetheless, that aspect doesn¡¯t concern Felix much. He¡¯s always been one to go his own way. From the beginning of his career, Felix has been independent and has ne
Once again, we've had a request from our readers for a guide. This time, it's on affordable dress watches. Now, dress watches are a bit of a funny category, in my honest opinion. What really defines it? Is it a small size and elegant materials? Is it glitz, glamour and dare I say, bling? Is a nice pilot watch really going to be reproached at your friend's wedding? Is a stylish diver going to get stink eye at your nephew's bar mitzvah? No¡I doubt it. Yet, there is a sense of what distinguishes a dress watch from other watches: non-aggressive lines, subtle but elegant dials and cases, lack of color and an overall look that compliments an outfit, rather than acts as the star. It is certainly subjective, and I think one should wear what is most comfortable to them and what is appropriate for the situation. A meeting with the boss is different than an anniversary dinner, so keep that in mind. That being said, there are many nice dress watches out there that range in price from dirt cheap to
I've run across these watches. Is the one in the middle genuine? I couldn't find a Speedmaster with the red second hand. Any thoughts?
Long time reader, first time poster. I have a question about Speedmaster boxes. I just purchased a pre-owned Speedmaster with the panda dial and it did not come with the box. I'm trying to purchase a replacement but I don't know if it originally came in Omega's red box or the 'wooden' box or something else.Any help would be appreciated. The model is the Speedmaster date-day-date/date-chronograph 323.30.40.40.04.001.
So I was fooling around with a Deep-sea today, and I love this watch but just can't get around how big it is. I really need bigger wrists :(
