- I bought this watch for a graduation gift, and it is really a beautiful watch. It looks a lot nicer than department store watches, and comes in a nice box. Great value for an expensive name brand item.

Baume & Mercier MOA08869 wrist watches news:
It gives us great pleasure to say that we are able to offer, courtesy of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a limited number of invitations to an upcoming exhibition showcasing some of the most unusual, valuable, and remarkably beautiful timepieces ever made. "The Luxury of Time: European Clocks and Watches" preview will be held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art this Thursday, November 19th at 6:30 p.m. There will be a host of amazing, very rare and extremely historically important clocks and watches on hand, and the exhibition is being co-curated by the Met's Mrs. Clare Vincent, a 40-year veteran of the Met, and Associate Research Curator Ms. Elizabeth Sullivan. These are just a few examples of the treasures from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection. Above is a stunning clockwork celestial globe, made in Vienna in around 1579; like many of the clocks and watches in the exhibition this was a gift from J. Pierpont Morgan (in this case the gift was given in 1917).
I was looking at some pre-owned DJs, and saw one with an oyster bracelet. The ones I had seen were always jubilee. Could it have been swapped out, or does Rolex offer both for the DJs?
My guess is that they are from the late 50s.I bought two Elgins with the 6811 case. One has a black dial with silver hour markers (which the photos do not do justice to it) and one with was once a white dial with wave patterns. The white dial has years of patina. Both cases had faint outlines of brushed sides. I took a fiber strand pen and rejuvinated the brushed metal. On the black dial watch, I ordered a new crystal and on the white dial watch, I buffed it and the chrome steel ring that was in it. Unfortunately, the GS replacement crystal is slightly different and will not take the chrome ring on the black dial watch. That is a shame, because the ring adds a bit of flash.Additionally, on the white dial version, I relumed the hands and hour markers since they were really either dirty or the lume was gone.Obviously there is nothing special about these Elgins, but I think the square case gives them character.
Hello all!I got my eye on Tissot PRS200 T17.1.486.33 (few nice pics HERE), and will be getting one soon I hope. But I'm afraid of replicas. Is there any site I could order it from and be 100% sure I'm getting a genuine watch? Are dealers like Amazon and Bluedial OK? Any other you could recommend maybe? Also, are those watches 100% Swiss made or just movements? Sorry, I'm new to all this. Any tip on what to look for when buying this watch?Thanx all in advance!Alex
hi guys:i need your inputs, I've heard that forged carbon is not as reliable as SS and will faded and scratch easily, but of course it'll hide some marks. most importantly, it's can't be fixed.is this true? what would you pick between 44mm SS or 44mm FC?thank you so much for your help and i know there are many threads cover this topic already.
