Baume & Mercier M0A08774 wrist watches news:
My favorite local jeweler/watchmaker, who is well into his 80's, has been systematically digging out watches from his stash of stuff he used to carry, but never sold, when he first opened his store in 1962. This was my source for a shopworn but never owned Longines Flagship from the late 60's. Today, the catch was an early 60's Universal Geneve dress watch. The proprietor told me that this was the watch that you would wear with your tux, and while lounging after the opera with friends, sipping a martini, you would casually let the sleeve ride up see if anyone would notice you wearing your poor man's Patek Philippe.Universal Geneve was very highly regarded in those days--the "poor man's Patek" was not an empty boast--and one can see why. They are most famous for their Compax chronographs (Bi-Compax with calendar, Tri-Compax with full calendar and moonphase), but they made superb simple and elegant dress watches. The case is steel. Thinking of buying a piece for my fiancée to match my diver and 15400. Went to the local AD and after trying on the RO 33mm and the 37mm, she much prefers the 33m as it fits her small wrist much better. But as a watch lover myself, I am quite bothered by the fact that the 33mm is not mechanical!! Have any of you guys gone thru the same dilemma? Can anyone kindly recommend a good AD in London as I will be coming over end of month from Hong Kong and I suspect pricing should be better in UK. Is there an AP boutique in Heathrow? Any idea whether they can offer discount?
I really enjoyed this one...Lumed bezel and look at that link extension to challenge glidelock.https://youtu.be/0nBvhwU_krk
Love the shape. Amazing condition for a watch from the 70s recent omega service and replacement bracelet helps I guess. Something special about vintage Omega- love it!
