Well, I think I have seen everything now. I was the first and only bidder on a LE Khaki Pearl Harbor over the weekend. I opened with $99 which was the minimum and set a maximum at $121. I felt confident. On Saturday, somebody came by and sniffed but got scared off. On Sunday, I was notified that I was outbid by 3 bucks and I went to bed happy that I was not going to get the watch. This morning, I saw the winning bid. . . by a first-time buyer on that auction site. . . are you ready. . . $255 for a 38mm quartz Hammie with no OEM box and commemorative pouch. You think they were smuggling drugs in that watch for that money? Granted, that watch model is very scarce but there are some nice alternatives out there. . . the larger Bulova WWII hack commemorative can be had for under a hundred bucks and Benrus has a 17 jewel swiss movement military that is also available for less than $100.That guy must've really wanted that watch to pay more for it than what it cost originally.
I'm looking to pick up a Base 22, but from what I read there is a 12hr GMT (preferable) version and a 24hr 'purist' version (not a deal-breaker). Is each of the four options (3887.11/GA-LB7 - 3887.19-LB9 - 3887.11/66-LB9 - 3887.18/66-1) available in one of the two movements? Or are they four separate movement versions? As far as I can tell, 3887.11/66-LB9 and 3887.18/66-1 are missing the GMT hand - are these the purist versions? I'm most interested in the 3887.19-LB9 black dial version. Thanks!
Was anyone else offended by the behavior of the host?He wears a Renato watch on air rather then one of the Philip watches he claims to own, calls Paul Woods his "dancing monkey" and more oddball behavior. It should not surprise me though. At one time this person claimed to be over 6 foot tall on another forum but his my space page claims 5'10. It appears to me that some people just do not know how to handle that so called "fame" at times.
I know it must be some thread about this beforeBut I still want some discussion here.Do you think the Vacheron Constantin style is good ? (IMHO it is seem more modern then Patek classic style ) I think it aim to different target customer to Patek. And do you think it is underrated? Because most Vacheron's pieces price is much lower than Patek's one.If you grade the Patek 10, what will you grade the Vacheron ?
