- This is a very ornate piece. It is a beautiful well made piece, however, the wearer must like the glam. I love it but the person I originally purchased it for would not like it. Too bad for me, now I get it for Christmas!

Artistic work when it comes to mechanical watches isn’t for everyone. But it is certainly a noteworthy craft if you consider the amount of effort and skill that is required to make artistic timepieces finer, more rare and unique. Such is the case with dial work, and Girard-Perregaux offered three solid choices in artistic craft with its Chamber of Wonders Collection this year. This should come as no surprise from Perregaux, whose enamel works we introduced last year.The collection is composed of three pieces, each in similar 40 mm fine polished pink-gold cases. The lugs have a steep curve to them and hug the wrist very well. The dials are finely crafted works of pigmented fine stone. 1 OF 5 The first is dubbed the Pearl of Wonders. It is a reproduction of a map drawn in the first half of the 15th century by historian Ibn al-Wardi, and it is inspired by Ptolemaic astronomy. This is a Illinois Hawthorne. If one ever wondered what a TRUE tank watch is, then examine one of these up-close sometime. It actually resembles an Army Tank from the side. My Hawthorne has a original snowflake/sparkle dial and a 17 jewel movement. This case was originally advertised as a Arlington if it had a 15 jewel movement.

The version I am looking to get is the 8500 calibre one.If anyone has a picture of this watch that they are willing to share, please post them! Also, I wanted to hear some opinions on the watch from actual owners, both goods and bads.Thanks!

I did it again!
Just added this to complement my 5167a. They are very different and not redundant (mike!)First impressions: Bracelet is very comfortable - the links are smaller than Rolex, so its contours better. The second hand changes colors, from red to blue to steel. The dial changes hue at every angle. Heavier than the 5167a and bracelet makes it feel more solid.
