Blancpain 6056-3642 A wrist watches news:
From a design standpoint I consider this watch to be the pre-cursor of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Survivor watch. Look at the two watches adn you will agree that this Rubens Barrichello II limited edition watch has design cues that made their way into the Surviror watch a few years late. Not exactly the same looks, but part of the same breed. These include the hands, dial design, light vertical texturing (see the strap links here) as well as the crown and pusher design. The pictured watch was part way "there" and then Audemars Piguet just went the distance with the Survivor. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Rubens Barrichello II watch was made in honor of the namesake Brazilian Formula 1 race car driver. For some reason Brazilian race car drivers seems to be the subject of many high end sport watches from not only Audemars Piguet, but also other brands such as Hublot and Richard Mille - can't say that I know why.The watch was offered back in 2006 in three limited vers
This is my third trip back since late February. I took only my Day-Date on the last two trips, and though it was a good choice, I missed having at least one other watch to wear during each trip. Maybe I should take a different watch this time?My wife thinks I'm nuts to think about this stuff; and she's right; but since I know all of you are similarly nuts, too, I'll mull over this in pubic with you.I'm thinking about my GMT IIC for the 12 hour flight and the 13 hour timezone change I'll have all week; but, then again, I'd hate to leave my currently favorite Daytona at home; but I'll be in business attire all week, so the Day-Date seems right; so what do I do? I can't take all of them; can I??? Such is the dilemma of the confirmed WIS.Anyone know of any good watch dealers I should visit in the Charlottesville, Virginia area?
From the moment I bought my white ExplorerII I wondered how cool it would look on a Jubilee bracelet...Well, a nice guy on the Dutch Rolexforum had some NOS ones for sale and I bought me one..First I removed the Oysterbracelet and gave it a good clean before I will send it to my watchmaker..Of course I made a few bracelet-less shots..:D:D:DAnd then the big moment...My ExplorerII on a Rolex Jubilee bracelet..Man what a fantastic combination..The ultimate Summer watch IMHO..(Now where is the Summer????)
While there is a lineage of great watches in the Fifty Fathoms / Submariner / Seamaster tradition, I can never pull the trigger on them. I'm drawn elsewhere. The Legend Diver is of Super-Compressor parentage, with its distinctive double crown at 2 and 4. That is part of the appeal. Features that make the Longines distinctive are the full domed crystal, vintage-yellow markings, and shiny black lacquered dial. The end result looks more like a sleek dress watch than a rugged diver.I drooled over this watch long enough, despite not seeing them in the metal. When my local AD got one in, I snapped it up.I'm not going to give a review, since this thing has been reviewed to death. I'll just say that it's fantastic, and I have no serious complaints. I think I need to get a tan or honey croco strap to dress it up more than the ridiculous OEM strap. Here are some pics:The domed crystal sits really high off the bezel. Sapphire will really save this from a ton of scratches.I love the text
Well, I did the "Out" so it's time for the "In". Can't have one without the other!2005 (ish) IWC Spitfire:I don't know why I'm so ambivalent about this watch because I smile every time I put it on. I guess it's because I drooled over the silver dialed version for so long. This was the "pilot" episode of the Project Watch Club series (get it? pilot? and it's a pilot watch :D):The Project Watch Club1960 Longines Conquest:It's no big secret that I this watch. I consider it the crown jewel of my vintage collection. I really hope I don't sound like I'm bragging but this was a tough one to track down and at the time it was by far the most I had ever paid for a vintage watch. 196x Hamilton Masterpiece Bradford:This was a spur of the moment eBay buy. It was just too low of a price to pass up. I realize now why I like the case - take a look at the lugs and then compare them to the VC further down. 1971 Heuer Autavia Viceroy:Another Project Watch Club subject:Project Watch Club: &qu
