For the lucky owners the PAM 317 K series with the PVD Movement, The L series batch of the watches will not come with the PVD coated movement but with a tinted case back.Answer from Mr BonatiWill future PAM317 models have a non-PVD movement but will have a black smoked display back instead?The PAM00317 millesimation "K" has the black PVD coating (P.2004/B movement).The millesimation "L" will adopt the smoked sapphire on the back and not yet the PVD coating on the movement I have to say I like the PVD movement. I bought a professional diver's work watch (wabi'd Tuna content)...
This vintage 600m golden Tuna 7549-7009 arrived today. According to the seller it has been his work watch for the last decades as diver working at the royal navy underwater escape training unit. Looking at what arrived today I have no reason to doubt his words (). The battery ran out recently (I just did a quick check; the crown operates as it should and the day/date changes at midnight) and I wasn't able to remove two of the non-oem replacement screws using very soft force. As I don't want to damage anything, I'll leave it up to a professional to remove the screws (I really hope this won't cause any problems). Time will tell if I did right buying this Tuna so lets proceed with the pictures....I'd be happy to read your comments

So, I am sure that most of you are aware of the December 15 auction to take place at Christies in NYC (.christies/salelanding...ntSaleID=25971 ). Of course, I fully understand that the die hard fans are worried that this type of sale will keep driving the prices up further, and thus will make more and more of these pieces out of our reach (i.e., the true fans who do not have unlimited means), but this is in my opinion a fact of life resulting from the general public having more and more access to expert information via blogs, forums etc. The people who were lucky enough to buy watches at a bargain price a few years/months ago should just feel that, LUCKY, and newcomers like myself will just keep hoping that the prices will remain reasonable for a bit longer and that true fans and enthusiasts will be able to enjoy nice pieces not only because they can simply afford them, but because they enjoy them for what they represent in terms of history and mechanical prowess in watchmaking. 5146 update?
I've decided to purchase both a 5711/1A and a 5146G (creme), though plan to space out the purchases to spread out the cost and to appreciate/savor each individually.I'm itching for a 5146, but what gives me pause is that it has been out for a while so could be due for an update. If it will be updated in a year or two, I'd love to be able to decide between the two versions rather than regret having bought the old version recently.Therefore, I'm leaning towards getting the 5711 and waiting on the 5146, but would appreciate any thoughts, particularly on the likely update cycle for the 5146.
