Purchasing an Omega Seamaster 'BOND' 300m Chronometer
This will be my first omega. I absolutely love everything about it. Made some calls today and it turns out the RRP here in Australia from the official store is $4500. A Few nearby omega supported retailers quote. Me at 4500-4700, however, one said they would give me a 20% (down to 3600) discount if I paid cash.Is this a fair deal? I have seen much cheaper- in the neighborhood of about 2.5-2.7k AUD via international online dealers in the UK with a littl extra shipping. However, I am very concerned about getting a fake; especially since the fakes around are good, and I'd be in a precarious position should I obtain one from an international online dealer. Am I being paranoid?Where should I buy it from? How do these online retailers manage to sell them almost half price of official RRP?Just joined this forum so please be easy on me if I'm being naive in any respect.Thanks in advance.

Looking for a Little Advice!
Hey all, I'm pretty new to these forums, been browsing for maybe a day or two. I've always been attracted to the many kinds and styles of watches out there but I've recently been looking into getting more into the more classic and higher end market (not considered by some, lol) of watch brands. So anyways, I recently purchased a Tourneau Safari collection watch pictured below for $300 and I'm extremely happy with it. I think it looks clean and simple, one of the styles I go after. So anyways, I just graduated college ( yay! wait, what am I saying , I'm still going back for my masters and maybe a PhD ) and I'm searching for a graduation present :D But, I'm having a little difficulty trying to understand the watch world a little better before I go on to purchase something expensive (~$500-$1500 to me anyway :p). Every store I go into, when I ask for help from the salesperson, I get the "buy buy buy" attitude from them, where every watch I try on "looks perfect on me." I just wish I could

Is hot water bad for your watch?
Some folks say you should not shower with your watch. Some never take it off; swim, shower, sauna…Here are my thoughts:1.Materials will expand according to the formula:dL = (TEC) * L0 * dT, where:dL = change in lengthTEC = Thermal Expansion CoefficientL0 = length at the reference temperaturedT = increase in temperature2.For SS the TEC varies from 10 to 20.3.That means a 2 inch watch case would grow .0005 inch if you take it from -40F to boiling water (~250F jump).4.It would of course shrink by the same amount if you decrease the temperature from boiling water to -40F.5.A TEC of 30x10-6 in/inoF (for fiberglass re-reinforced PolyPropylene) means it will expand .0015 inch under a temperature jump of 250F.6.For rubber it is .00385 inch.7.For sapphire the TEC is ~3.5 so it will grow by .00175 inch.8.Note though, that the case, the case-back, the crystal and the seals all experience the temperature change, so only the differentials in expansion need to be taken into account.9.The seals

Today was a good day...
Today was a good day dear TRF friends. I¡¯ve had my eyes on this one for quite some time. Finally pulled the trigger. Ordered it a few months ago and then the wait began.... I guess it¡¯s part of the charm. I wanted to do this purchase the old fashion way from my local AD brand new sealed ordered for me. They were fantastic.
