Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're speaking with Robert Michelsen, a fourth-generation watchmaker who, along with instructing students, oversees production for Icelandic brand Michelsen. Hello everybody! My name is Rene (from the Netherlands) and just dicovered this great forum yesterday. I am interested in buying the IWC Spitfire Chrono-Automatic Reference IW371702. I am searching all over the internet to get a good price. In my opinion I have two options: buying from a official AD, and getting the IWC company guarantee and making sure I am purchasing a genuine IWC watch. Second option is buying from an online retailer, which has some more uncertainties. NOT being an official dealer, no IWC company guarantee, the risk of buying a "fake" one, BUT for much less money. Hmmm, difficult.Retailprice of this watch with an AD is around 4200usd. Buying from an online retailer I found one (temporarely out of stock though) for 2800usd!!This offer is on [non-sponsor name removed]. Does anyone of you have experience with [non-sponsor removed]? Or do you have any other tips?I am flying regurarely to Miami, so I am also thinking of getting it there.I am hoping to be able to show you
I have been lurking around these forums for a few years now with my heart set on a used Rolex Submariner. I'm budgeting around $4,500, so I imagine that would get me a watch around 10 years old or so.I recently came across the Omega Seamaster 300M, and I really like the looks of it (very similar to a Submariner IMHO). I'm curious how others feel in regards to the comparisons between the two.I still like the Submariner, but I also really like the comparable looks of the Omega Seamaster 300m, and the price would allow me to buy brand new.Curious what everyone's thoughts are here, which will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Here is my latest...and my other latest.
Straightforward question, I'm just an individual, not a business & I am looking ship a $20k watch. How do I protect that shipment? I looked at ParcelPro, but they seem to be more geared at businesses and needed all types of business information to sign up for an account. Can anyone advise here? Thanks!
