Bvlgari Introduces An Octo Chronograph Watch
In the run-up to BaselWorld, Bulgari has released some information on their newest watch, the Octo Chrono. No, this one isn't emblazoned with any eight-legged sea creatures. Instead, you've got an octagon, a representative combination of a square and circle (and, if you follow their hyperbolic press release, it symbolizes the combination of Italian design and Swiss precision). While the design is sure to garner attention, that's not the main thing that makes this watch interesting to us.For that, you actually need to look past the angular skin (though, with 110 alternating brushed and polished surfaces, that might be a tad hard to do). What I really want to draw some attention to is the movement that's beating away. Hands-On: Kent Wang Bauhaus v3
Kent Wang is no stranger to Worn & Wound. Last year we reviewed the Art Deco watch, Wang's second timepiece and ode to Art Deco design philosophy. That watch had a sculpted geometric case and a beautiful guilloche dial featuring an ornate sunburst designed by Louise Fili. This time around we got our hands on the latest iteration of Kent Wang's first-ever watch, the Bauhaus.As the name suggests, the Bauhaus watch pulls its influence from the Bauhaus school of design. The dial bears no logo. Simple hash markers represent the hours and smaller hash markers fill in the minutes. There's also a bordered date window, as well as a set of faceted baton hands. All watches feature a flat sapphire crystal up top and a display back. And that's pretty much it. The fascinating part of it is not the comparison between the 3 chronographs, IMO, but the brief history about the high end brands and their view on the way to make watches, that you could find the same base caliber in a 1500$ Speedster as in a high end Patek, of course the movement of the two after being redesigned and decorated had nothing in common.So maybe Patek doesn't have the same finishing it once had, personally I have no idea, as I never looked at a 20 year old Patek movement under times 4 magnification, and at a modern movement of the same complications and price.Many want in-house movements over outsourced, but the models going for the highest prices at auction, whether Patek or Panerai, were outsourced...Anyways hope you find the article interesting...https://.hodinkee/articles/pa...harmony-review

Best Buys In Preowned Rolex
Hello,There are some models that are very popular, eg PN Daytona, Bond Rolex etc.... These are also very expensive.But I am curious about which models seasoned Rolex buyers think are good buys now. I suppose there are two ways of answering this¡ªone with an eye to future appreciation, and the other just considering quality of the timepiece relative to money paid. Both would be interesting, but I am most untested in the latter, as the former is purely speculative. It seems to me that some Datejust models represent great values. I especially like ones with Buckley or Vignette dials. Anyway, what do you think?
