Hello Everybody!NEW WATCH PURCHASE! This time, it was purchased for my Dad. After many months of searching (both soul and otherwise ), it was time to bite the bullet, and purchase a brand-new 118238 Yellow Gold Day-Date with the President Bracelet. You may notice that this piece is equipped with a white index dial, not with the Roman Numeral dial that is often seen. We (my Dad and I) were very pleased with this dial for its visibility both in normal and low light conditions. This piece is totally new, including the new style clasp, the inner-bezel inscription, and the polished lugs. My Dad is not a gemstone kind of guy, hence you won't see any on this piece. Still, wow. Some of you may recall my recent advocacy for the White Gold version of this watch. I will now "put a sock in it." Anybody here own a portofino chrono? Any thoughts good or bad? I've been lusting after a portugese watch, but with the high price, it's just out of my range. I need a watch with a date on it. I wasn't that crazy about the portofino chrono at first, but the more i look at it, the more i seem to like it. Heres what I know about the differences between fake , replica, and homage watches.
Ok I just wanted to clear something up to those of you who are thinking about buying a watch and want to know if your getting a fake, replica or even an homage watch.A fake is basically a bad copy of a replica in other words someone can take a replica and add little details to the watch and call it a replica or even go as far and call it real to the naked eye someone can't see that.A replica on the other hand is basically a good copy of a real watch but unlike a fake they try to make it as genuine as possible to the real one.A Homage is totally different it's not a fake or a replica it's basically paying tribute to a real watch, and at times is considered a fake why because it also looks like someone else's brand but as long as there is not a name of some big company on the dial to mimic the real one its fine.I know were not allowed to post fakes or replica's on here but even I've been fooled in the past.
