Vancouveristi Panerai Mini-GTG ReportApril 28th, 2012A few no-shows because of family commitments. But we still managed to pull off our second consecutive Spring meeting. Weather was not suitable for the patio but inside was full of great food, drinks, watches and talk. Arghh, who am I kidding? The group of us griped about the 1st place Vancouver Canucks losing in the first round of the Playoffs?!?As I write this now, we are the ONLY team to beat the Los Angeles Kings (11-1) this post season! ;p Go Kings!! I gotta rep all my California friends and I have a lot of them I owe thanks to in my watch hobby! Thanks to Kevin, Gordon, Wade, Sam, Wilson and Lia. Instead of "door prizes" we just made sure everyone walked away with watch related Schwag! On to the pics....Some of the Historic Luminor PAM's in front of me. Sam & Wilson's two identical Titanium Models?Nope, One clearcaseback with engraved plates and bridges on the movement and one solid caseback.Wade's Pepsi GMTii.
Does anyone know where I can locate a rally band? Is there a good site that sells omega bands?
I just read a post on another forum from a watchmaker who recently sent a 119 year old Patek Phillipe 14k pocket watch back to Geneva for an estimate to repair it. As you probably know, PP will repair any watch they've ever sold, for a price. The estimate came back at $13,000.00 with an ETA of approximately 40 MONTHS!!! Kinda makes a Rolex $500 - $600 service seem like a bargain, huh?
Hi AllI have a question which I¡¯ve been thinking over for the past few weeks. Initially, I thought it was crazy but I¡¯m becoming more and more certain about going ahead with it. I¡¯d appreciate anyone¡¯s thoughts on this.My current Rolex collection consists of: DaytonaC White, SD4K, GMT II BLNR, GMT 16700 pepsi and a Hulk (incoming). Im thinking of trading all of these for a Daytona Platinum. Given I want to minimise the amount of cash I need to add, the Platona will be second hand.So far I see the positives as:-Consolidation/ simplification of my collection is good as the novelty of choice is waring off for me-I would love to be a one watch person (that will never happen but maybe one Rolex will)-I get (in my opinion) the ultimate RolexThe swap would leave me with some affordable beaters, a Royal Oak and a TAG Heuer Monaco (neither of these two can be traded).I guess my questions are:1.Would you do the trade if you were in my position and2.Can you recommend any UK based dealers to spea
Desperately need your guidance on whether to buy the Black GMT or Batman. I am trading in my Air King which I have had for 9 years. My heart is set on Batman, which I have found (5 - 6 hour round trip drive from my house). However, my local AD includes the first overhaul for free with any purchase. Naturally the local AD doesn¡¯t have Batman, just the Black GMT. Does anyone else think about total cost of ownership or am I overthinking this. I could always trade in the Batman in 7 years for a different/ new model thus negating the overhaul value of the negotiation. Any help you can provide is appreciated. Looking to pull the trigger next Wednesday. Thanks!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
