Breitling ab0140aa/g712-1lt wrist watches news:
Hello everyone, My father passed recently, and I inherited this gold Longines watch. It was given to my great-grandfather for his service with Esco. The date on the engraving is 1947. I did some searches for this make and model, but could not find one that was it. I know the community here probably sees this as an easy mystery to solve, but I am stumped. Any help with the make, model and relative worth would be greatly appreciated. The grit seen in the watch face is apparently either dust or sawdust, as my great grandfather was a carpenter. This was what my mother told me, she might have been incorrect. I would also like to know what resources I would need to get it cleaned, or is it something I could do myself? Thanks everyone for any help in advance!
Does anyone understand what the current situation is with ETA and their supply of ¨¦bauche kits to 3rd party manufacturers? From what I understand, they started reducing supply in 2008, and are to stop supply alltogether in 2010, or at least at much lower numbers. Can anyone tell me if that is the case, and what it means for watch manufacturers that still use base eta movements in their watches?Watch manufacturers lately have all been scrambling to create their own movements, which sounds like it was Hayek's plan: "[t]ere was no innovation, no new development, and when I pushed them to start doing new production, everybody started shoutingI said I was not going to deliver any more of my movements unless they try to do their own productionOtherwise the Swiss watch industry will suffer exactly the same problems it had before and it will go down." (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ETA_SA#Valjoux_7750)Will companies like Breitling, Panerai, IWC etc still be able to offer eta base movements in a few

I just got back from picking up the 5204. While there, my AD said he had a surprise. One day after the 5204 arrived my 5575 175th Anniversary watch arrived. Both of the watches arrived with my name already on the Certificate of Origin. While I expected it on the 5204, I was surprised it was on the certificate for the 5575. Sensory overload - checkbook unloaded.
