White gold was developed in the 1920's as a platinum substitute. Adding white metals to gold will lighten it's color, and some metals have a stronger bleaching effect than others. Nickel, iron, chromium, palladium and platinum are the most effective whiteners. Zinc and silver work almost as well. There is no set standard in the industry to define white gold's color, and the only regulation about white gold at all came January 20, 2000 in Europe pertaining to the use of nickel. Nickel can bleed from white gold and cause an allergic reaction in some people. European Union countries are trying to eventually eliminate the use of it in all jewelry. In the US there is legislation to label nickel alloys with a health advisory. As much as we all might like to deny that marketing has any effect on our watch choices, for me it clearly has an impact.As I surf the Internet or look through watch forums, I come upon watch names that compel me to do some research on the watch. For example, although when I saw references to the Benarus Megalodon I had to see what the thing looked like. Even some of the nicknames collectors give watches like the Seiko "Sumo" make me have to look.What model names or nicknames have drawn you to take a look?

AP AD Thoughts - Manfredi
Hi all, was wondering if anyone in the New York or CT area has dealt with Manfredi in Greenwich, and can speak about the experience. I have spoken to them on the phone and dropped in the store a few times, but never have been seriously looking, just browsing. They have always been very nice and knowledgeable, much more so than most ADs, and never pushy. Whenever I buy it is basically down to them versus the boutique, unless someone has another AD in that area that deals APs who they have had a favorable experience with. Any thoughts on Manfredi, and buying from them, where there would most likely be some sort of discount, versus the boutique where no price accommodations can be made, but they do come with a 5 year warranty versus the standard 3 year.

Need help picking rolex
My first was 10 years ago, a date just jubilee where the dial written rolex all around it... I sold it earlier this year with the thought of buying the deepsea d-blue by end of the year.. It felt too small and I wanted to get a bigger watch.I finally get around purchase time, I realize this is a huge watch. I'm not a big guy and my wrist is 6 1/3 or so.. So back to the drawing board, I'm debating between the Submariner 2tone Sunburst or the Seadweller 43. The SD43 seems like it could fit me okay, not too big.. the thickness I on videos and comparison seems acceptable.. Will it fit well with a dress shirt and suit cuffs?Otherwise I'm going for the submariner.. That seems like it should fit well but I'm not sure I want the bright colors lol..Which would u get?
