After playing with my new arrival, I just got to opening the Lord Elgin that just came back from the watchmaker.He fixed the movement, which wouldn't wind via the crown, serviced and timed it, cleaned the dial and hands, cleaned the inside of the crystal, polished it, polished the case, and restored the brushed finish to the case back.When I got it, the inside the crystal was a bit dirty, as were the hands and dial, plus, it would run, but wouldn't wind. Don't get me wrong, for a 50 year old watch, it was in great shape, but it was clear that a little bit of TLC would do wonders. Before I sent it in, the grime dulled its looks. Now, the markers and hands catch the light and shine and the dial just seems brighter.Needless to say, I'm very happy with the job my guy did. PrePost

GMT.... Dual Time.... some thoughts on names
In another thread in the GDF there was a bit of disagreement over the definition of a GMT watch and a Dual Time watch.After years in the military, I know what GMT is, that's not the question here.Watchfan1 defined a GMT watch as one with a 24hr indicator that can be used to keep track of another time zone (and not just the time at Greenwich as some seem to think), and I would add to this by saying a Dual Time watch is simply a watch with another time displayed, often a two handed 'normal' clock on a sub dial.I imagine the term GMT watch would have been coined in the early days as pilots, military personnel etc would have had a good reason to track GMT as a common reference when communicating with units around the world (and still do). If I want you to know the time difference between where I am and where you are, it's easier for me to say I am GMT +12 and you can work out the rest if you know your own GMT offset.These days with a much wider range of people wearing this type of watch, t

Hey Folks,I know this subject has been covered, so I apologize for any redundancies but I have a bunch of questions and I have done research, but would like some specific advice here.I would like to buy a rubber Diver Strap for my inbound ROO Gray 26470ST.Questions:Best place to order is directly from APSC, correct?I would like to order the strap in gray if possible, any thing I need to know about color variations?Will my existing ROO buckle fit the diver strap or do I need to also order a buckle?I have seen in some past sales threads that people have sold the straps with the steel plots included. Do I need to purchase the steel plots? If not required, would you all recommend doing so to make strap changes easier? What would the advantages be of having a second set?
