Letting down mainsprings
Hi Everyone,I'm a newbie and this is my virgin post. I'm relatively new to watch collecting but an old hand at collecting. In the few short months that I've been interested in vintage watches (new watches have little or no interest for me, I'm afraid) I've taken a liking to Favre-Leuba watches and I now have 8 or 9. I'll create a collection for perusal in due course.I started, like so many I suspect, with a Mumbai special - a Sea Chief with a repainted dial. It was cheap but runs fine and is actually quite a clean watch internally. To be honest, on a very limited income, I'm never going to be able to afford high end stuff, unless I'm very lucky, but I do get lucky occasionally. Like today ....I bid on and won a cal.253 Sea Chief that is a non-runner. It's gold plated and came with a nice Fixo-Flex bracelet. I paid peanuts and wasn't expecting much - a parts watch at best or a reasonable case to drop a spare movement into. The watch arrived this morning and was way nicer than I had anti

Amazing what you find when you're not looking for it. I was searching my safe for some documents and hiding in a far corner was a cardboard sleeve and case...could it possibly be?????IT IS ! This has been AWOL for over 10 years.I'd forgotten it had a signed crown...and clasp lock...Everything else was just as I remembered. Laser-etched Masonic emblem on the braceletcustom-engraved backand, of course...I'll probably take a lume and wrist shot after my watch guy gives it a health check.I've been wondering where it was all this time!This is what I originally wanted as my avatar. Now if I can only get a perfect dial shot...

Watchwinder direction?
I recently purchased a "Bulova Automatic Sport (Model 98A106)" watch. I am also going to purchase an "Orbita Sparta 1 Prestige Lithium" automatic watchwinder. What direction (clockwise, counterclockwise, or both) would I set this watchwinder to for the automatic winding of this watch? I do not see this watch in the Orbita watch database.
