Breitling A49350L2/F549-pilot-steel wrist watches news:
Panerai's new P9000 automatic movement line was the star for the watchmaker at SIHH this year. The entry level in-house made movement is meant to be a friendly rugged machine with function and reliability in mind. This is particularly seen in the watches that the new movement line showed up in. My favorite of which is this PAM00305 (PAM305), also known at the Luminor Submersible 1950. In addition to being Panerai's first exhibition back diving watch it also has a face without a number 12. This is the first time I have seen this on a Panerai watch, though I am admittedly not a Panerai superfan like some people out there. You have to give this watch a double-take to make sure it is in fact a Panerai, because that "12" always in the same font, is just SO Panerai. Actually the look is based on some historic Panerai diving watches.Like many Panerai diving watches, the PAM305 is made of titanium, and is a lofty 47mm wide. I like the clean look of the design and the dial. The rotating diver's
I came across this baby on a french watch seller's site. I'm too lazy to translate, but a quick google translate will do! As some of you may have experienced, being inspired by Stan and his work can be a scary thing. I have recently dipped a toe into the deep waters of pre30's Elgins. First up is a 1927 3/0 size grade 462. This is the movement featured in many of Stan's Pershings. I picked it up on Ebay for $16 and change and ran it through the ultrasonic. It's keeping good time but the balance swing is less than 180 deg so I may need to look for a mainspring. It's in an Illinois Spartan nickel case. Is the engraving on the case supposed to be filled with enamel? If so, how do you get enamel into the sides of the center case. The finish looks like a fine sand cast rather than polished. If I brush paint into the engraving I'm not sure the excess will wipe off of the high points cleanly. My second geezer is a 1908 Elgin 0 size grade 354. It has some issues with its Starwhite case but is running strong and the movement looks amazing for 103 years old.It was an auction steal at $15.50. The back has been beaten
This is reprinted from the latest My Oris newsletter - a LE TT3 to celebrate the Macau Grand Prix...."Motor sports star wears new limited Oris at Macau Grand Prix Oris celebrated the 56th anniversary of the famous Macau Grand Prix by introducing our newest motor sports ambassador and the limited edition watch which bears his name. Chinese Canadian race superstar Darryl O’Young starred in the Macau GT Cup event, finishing in 2nd place in his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup S. Darryl is a world-renowned Porsche race driver and is the only driver to have won the Class A Championship in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia twice. On his wrist during race weekend? The new Oris Darryl O’Young Limited Edition from the TT3 family of watches. The new motor sports inspired watch will be available in early 2010 with MyOris members the first to be informed when it hits the shops. "I see Mr O'Young used to be a Hublot ambassador. Perhaps he didn't give them a 'big bang' for their investment.(or perhaps he
I've looked all over for a reference on the forum for Wakmann watches but there isn't any. So here is mine: This watch was given to me about 20 years ago. He had it when he was going for a private pilots license. I've had it repaired once but died on me right in the middle of a trip to Japan (maybe the aura of all those Seikos and Casios killed it ). Anyway, As I understand it that Wakmann's are Breitling's under American license. I don't see any markings on the movement that suggest that this particular watch is but that doesn't matter to me. This watch was the first watch to suck me into the dark depths of Chronographs.
