While the two big releases for Patek Philippe at Basel World this year both happened to be in stainless steel (the new Nautilus Chrono Travel Time 5990 / Annual Calendar Chrono 5960A), it's worth noting that one of its more understated and elegant, but important, timepieces received two updates. The reference 5140 is Patek's round, traditional perpetual calendar, and this year we saw two brand new dials.It is the follow up to the iconic 3940, which is considered to be one of the most important pieces of Patek's modern history – many consider it, along with the 3970, the first serially produced truly complicated timepiece. Its 20-year reign came to an end in 2006 when Patek showed the 5140, which would use the same ultra-thin, self-winding, micro-rotor-powered caliber 240Q. Hello.So I'm new to the forum and really just starting to get into this obsession. I don't have a real focus and my interest is all over the place at the moment. I've been personally attacked by self proclaimed watch expert ArchieLuxury and I don't know whether to take it as a complement or a criticism. Is the enemy of my enemy my friend ? I received a PM from my buddy and fellow member Nicko alerting me to the fact that ArchieLuxury did a video slamming my Panerai 341, using several stolen photos from my photo bucket account. The video is full of foul language so be careful if you choose to click on the link. He uses many of my photos of the watch but does not use my wrist shots, instead he chooses someone with a much smaller frame to emphasize the size of the piece. I¡¯m receiving my doctorate in the spring and am very interested in rewarding myself with a classic No-Date Submariner.For example: How do I start the process? What advice do you offer? Should I expect a negotiated price?
