Concord has updated their C1 Chronograph range with a new look for 2013, and let's just say it looksfamiliar. The new C1 retains the same 44mm footprint as the past models but the design as been massaged to be a bit more reserved, now featuring a slimmer crown, improved legibility, and a more ergonomic and curved case shape.The C1 is powered by Concord's A07 movement which is based on the ETA Valgranges A07.211, a 25 jewel automatic movement with chrono seconds, sub dials for both 30 minutes and 12 hours and a date display - think of it as a Valjoux 7750 for larger watches. The C1's crystal is sapphire and the bezel is made from either titanium or ceramic, depending on the specific model.If you only casually glanced at the photos, would you have guessed Concord? Me neither, as the overall design is distinctively that of an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore. Oris Artelier Pointer Day--Size question
I haven't been looking much at Oris for perhaps a year now but was noticing their newer (I think) Artelier Pointer Day. I have tried on the TT1 and it's 44mm size actually wears smaller than that and I found it perfect. I like the Pointer Day but wonder if it "wears as big as it sounds" or "wears smaller than that". The reason I ask is because it was my experience at least with the TT1 that when you actually wear the watch it just doesn't seem that big. Oris had another Pointer Day a few years ago and I missed out on it and really like this new model but at 45mm at least for most brands, this would be what I would consider too big for me. Does anyone here own one or tried one on? (My wrist size is 7.5", about roughly average I suppose.) Thanks in advance.

Quartz: Fix it or trash it?
Another cheap eBay find. This one came in a lot of 4. Unfortunately, it doesn't work and this was the one of the 4 I really wanted.I put in a new battery thinking that's all it needed and no go. However, when I removed the back I noticed it had a jeweled movement. Of all the quartz watches I have, I've never seen a jeweled quartz movement. Although, I still don't know much about watches.I figured this may be one worth getting repaired so I took it to my local watchmaker for an estimate. He confirmed that this was a very nice movement and they don't make quartz watches like this anymore. He dated it around early 80's (a guesstimate). He said he put a battery in and it "stepped" for him (I don't know what that means in watchmaker terms), so it does work, but basically just needs a typical servicing, along with the back case gasket which was torn, and it will be good to go. Final cost: $114. The watch guy said it is well worth it and that you can't buy a quartz watch of this quality these
