Tag Heuer's marketing slogan is "Swiss Avant Garde..." Maybe I understand avant garde differently, but while a lot of Tag Heuer watches are really nice, I would not consider most of them to be avant garde. The term avant garde is one I use with particular frequency, and the concept is simple. The phrase itself is French for "advance guard" but the English analog does not translate really well. Basically, avant guard refers to edgy experimental things, art, or practices that push limits, and advance what ever genre they are in to new areas.Avant garde design pushes into previously untested or new areas. If I call a design avant garde, I am suggesting that while the design is new and uncommon, it works for the open-minded and appreciative viewer. Spotting the difference between Stainless and chrome-plated brass......
Without trying to sound like a total NEWB, What is the best non invasive way to tell the difference between Stainless and Chrome-plated brass. I'm looking into some Russian watches and my research is telling me that what I'm looking at could be either. The actual originals were one piece cases and solid stainless, no design on dial or case, just an engraved S#. The newer versions are made in the same factory yet have symbols on the dial and raised designs on the case back and I find my information is contradictory. One source says these are NOT remakes but the quality is hit or miss and the cases can either be brass or stainless. The other source says that the newer ones are remakes made of brass but new old stock of stainless can still be found on line like the ones on *bay. I'm so confused, How do I tell the difference? Is there a texture to a brass casting that is too difficult to machine in stainless?Help!!!!!!

There's no question that replicas enjoy a well deserved insidious reputation here.What of watches with sterile dials?I've found a watch I like which bears a rather striking resemblance to a watch very well known, high end company. The watch is completely sterile; no markings anywhere.Just wondering. I'm hardly committed to buying it...

Interestingly a full ceramic AP with bracelet could be a possibility. 2) At one point he talks about chronographs, he says one of my biggest hopes we see a lot of women wearing gold chronograph on their wrist, no need to say the name or the company <--- what watch is he talking about here? could it be the Daytona? 3)Towards the end he says that only one thing that could kill AP only 1! but he ask them to shut down the recording and he will let the audience know! What could this be? smart watches?
