Arizona Fine Time visit
Just got back from visiting AFT today. Met Gary who was great at showing me all their Seiko lines. I was there to see the GS gmt, which did not disappoint (hopefully I can swing a deal!). It was really cool seeing so many spring drive watches in one place, and Gary couldn't have been nicer or knowledgeable (he handles their cigar biz mostly, but still knew his stuff about the watches). Sorry I missed Joe, but did have a chance to briefly say hi to the owner, Mitchell.It was cool being in a place (I wouldn't call it a store, more like a friendly place to hang out, talk watches, and smoke a fine cigar, which I did) with such a variety of cool stuff- watches (10+ brands of swiss, german and japanese), cigars, shaving tools, etc. Even my wife was happy sitting in the "lounge" watching 6 tv's and having a cigar with me. A couple of questions about automatics...
Fortunately, I learned that it is not good to change the date within a few hours of midnight before doing so.Question 1: My assumption is, however, that it would be okay to change the date forward during those hours by changing the time past midnight, then setting the time? It seems that the gears would be doing what they are designed to do, just faster. It's my understanding that the reason you aren't supposed to change the date during those hours is that there are gears that are engaged and the "date gear" shouldn't be moved by itself while engaged with the "time gear". I'm SURE that if I have the basic idea correct, I've extremely oversimplified it.Question 2: How much of a pain is it to change the day/date on a Seiko Orange Monster? I assume if it was stopped, and you didn't know if it was stopped at an a.m. or p.m. time, you'd have to set it forward a day using the time setting, then set it to a time that wasn't within the "don't change the date" time range, change the day a

Women wearing men's (or oversized) watches.The trend isn't all that new. It's been around for a while. However, InStyle magazine just did a feature on women wearing large watches.One the positive side, you can get away with buying your wife/girlfriend a Rolex Daytona as a gift (and you can tell her that wearing it loose on the wrist is the way to go - that way you can borrow it).One the negative side, your wife/girlfriend will be wearing YOUR watches.So...is this a positive or a negative trend?Here's a scan of the article.
