I picked up my first Omega at the fleamarket for a measly $30 and it runs, I am very impressed with the movement quality. I had planned on flipping this one, but I will be keeping it for my collection. I have looked up the case # 166.0209 link to omega Are there any service manuals for the 1020 movement out on the ? my crown is stripped out, and the watch is not wearable at the moment until I get a replacement from the bay. I like to do my own work on watches, I can probably handle the crown replacement myself, that is after I find one. does anyone know what the crown thread size is for the 1020 movement? History Repeating Itself ? The End of the AD?
Our grandparents bought their clocks, silverware and watches from jewelry stores (AD's). As competition heated, a lot of companies started importing or taking their manufacturing off shore and found other ways to sell their goods cheaper and through other channels..Timex is a good example as they started selling their watches in department stores and even drug stores(unheard of at that time) at much cheaper prices. This put a lot of pressure on companies like Hamilton who kept their product at top quality and protected the jewelry stores margins. Soon the cheaper watch was the watch de jour and the rest is history (this scenario is quite simplified but accurate enough for this thread)...With prices going up, the internet and gray market dealers, are AD's(jewelry stores, watch stores) headed into obscurity as watch dealers? I have heard that watches are probably the item with the smallest margin of any item sold in a jewelry store...What do you think?

The 15202 is a temptress!
Not sure if I'm looking for moral support, enabling, or a swift kick to the head but here is the issue: I really want a 15202 (at least I think I do) but I just don't think it fits my lifestyle. I'm sure I would give it a number of scratches and just bang it around a lot because I want to wear it daily but does that... nay SHOULD that matter? Watches are meant to be worn right!? But what about the WR... and so goes the conversation in my brain. Currently I have a 3 watch collection: Speedy, Milgauss Z blue and an AP Diver. To me the speedy is the only watch that is SAFE in the collection; the z-blue and diver could go on the chopping block for the 15202. Mind you, I've owned the 15202 once before but stupidly traded away though I can't recall why. What are peoples thoughts? Trade for it? Keep what I have cause they are more ME? Any help appreciated

My AD says there is another price increase coming soon... Has anyone else heard any info on this?
