How can I tell if I'm a vintage or modern collector?
You all could be helpful to me w/ opinions, experiences, and even advice as I think out loud her about the near term future of my collection.As many know, "James Bond watches" is sorta the theme around which I acquire timepieces. Ultimately, if I were ever to run through them all, let me assure you!), it would not only be a mix of brands, but also of vintage and new. And, for that matter, some of the newer pieces would by definition become vintage.Running out of choices right now isn't a problem: Plenty of Bond watches I still don't own (unfortunately!). But how should I build it in the near future?On the one hand, I treasure my 35-year-old-plus Hamilton Pulsar LED, and my Breitling Top Time dating back more than four decades. Mont Blanc bargain
One of the joys of a job that involves travel, even just locally, is the opportunity to check pawn shops. Until recently, when I found this forum, I only looked for tuning fork Accutrons and I have found some bargains. This forum has broadened my world but I've still got a lot to learn. Today I found a Mont Blanc that could be bought for $75, probably less. There's not a lot of info about Mont Blanc but fakes are advertised. How would I know if it is a fake? Any help will be appreciated.

7 jewel Elgin
Hello. I am new to the site but glad I found it. I am also new to collecting as this question will obviously show. The question of the number of jewels on vintage watches and reliability has me wondering. I have seen remarks about staying away from Elgin and other brands with 7 jewels as their bearings could be worn and the repair would be more than the item's worth. Any validity to this? I realize that it would probably be a case by case basis. However I'm just trying to avoid potential headaches. Any replies will be appreciated. Thanks.

2 Questions about ADs selling to Grays....
disclaimer: I buy/support from both AD and Gray and am simply curious about 2 things. Grays get a few hot models from ADs even while ADs have waiting lists for said hot models.....1) Why would an AD sell to a Gray over a customer?. Moving out non hot models I get, but say Daytonas for example that have waiting lists yet grays have them. (or SS Its in the future)2) If ADs are nervous about selling to a customer who might flip the watch (contracts, etc) why sell to a Gray that will, as is their right, flip the watch?
