Concord C1 QuantumGravity Movement (And Whatever Upcoming Watch) Annoys Me
My problems with Concord all started with the "revitalization" of the brand a few years ago when the Concord C1 watch line was released. I wrote this article discussing how (and why) I didn't care for the design of the C1. The brand keeps coming out with new watches all based on the C1, some more hideous that others. Then came out the vertically aligned tourbillon watch, and most recently, the tourbillon version of the Concord C1 will be supplemented with this new movement, the C1 QuantumGravity - and I am thoroughly annoyed by it.It is funny, because other watches and watch companies do a lot of the same things that Concord is doing, but the marketing and attitude at Concord irks me the most. Arrived: Hamilton Masterpiece
OK, so this is nowhere near as vintage as a lot of the pieces I see here at WTF. And it's a gold tone piece. But I really needed a dressy piece, wanted it to be a Hamilton, and found this: the Hamilton Masterpiece. As near as I can tell, this dates from sometime in the very early 1980s. It's quartz, it's got a base metal bezel and the case size is 34mm:eek:, a size I never thought I'd wear. But I'm really enjoying this piece because it is BNIB (NOS). That's the fun thing about collecting Hamiltons. You can find a wide variety of pieces from across the 20th century, some of which are new old stock. I need someone honest and good to refurb dad's Seiko Sportsmatic 7625-8233.
My dad recently passed away and he gave me his watch to remember him by. His father bought this watch, and two additional ones identical, for him and his two brothers. It was always cool as a young kid getting together and seeing my uncles with the same watch my father had.The problem is I like watches, I just don't work on them. It needs to be done right and I don't know anyone who could do it right. I've been burned by jewelry shops before so I'd prefer to pay someone rather than a shop. So, does anyone know anyone reputable and trustworthy either on this forum, or online, or in Albuquerque that could refurbish this watch, and do it right? I think the curved crystal will be hard to find and it might need a new movement. When I shake it around to wind it, nothing happens. Face and hands look great. Everything glows except the 8 position. Case is kind of scratched and all the numbers are very visible on the back. Crystal is totally readable but has incidental scratches. Any help would
