- This is just a beautiful watch. I too was concerned about reviews of a similar watch being very large. This watch is still a little on my very wrist, but I still love it.

Recently I became the watch contributing writer for Departure's International new online magazine. This is a follow-up to my holding the same position at the Centurion Magazine website. I invite you to regularly check Departures-Internationalwatches-dealer (and Centurion) for weekly updates on watches you aren't likely to see here at aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer.
I just finished putting it all back together! I did a ground up 100% restoration on this one. Details: 1915 Elgin, 17 Jewels, Size 3/0s, Grade 423, Serial Number 18628019, Many Solid Gold Parts on the Movement, Real Alligator Band, White Gold Filled Philadelphia Case, Display Case Back, Brand New Cut Glass, Refinished Dial, Refinished Hands, Serviced & Timed. And yes, the original case back is still in tact. According to the Elgin Master Records they only manufactured 500 of this movement and this is number 19. I have posted a few before and after pictures.
'Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone,in a one bedroom house made of plaster and stone.I had come down the chimney with presents to give, and to see just who in this little house lived. As I looked all about, a strange sight I did see,No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.No Stockings by mantle, just boots filled with sand,On the wall hung pictures of far distant lands. With medals and badges, awards of all kinds,A sobering thought came through my mind. For this house was different, it was dark and dreary, The home of a soldier, I could now see clearly. The soldier lay sleeping, silent, alone,Curled up on the floor in this one bedroom home. The face was so gentle, the room in such disorder,Not how I picture a United States Soldier. Was this the hero of whom I'd just read?Curled up on a poncho, the floor for a bed?I realized the families that I saw this night, owed their lives to these soldiers who were willing to fight.Soon round the world, the children would play, and grownups
For those of you who know me I'm a fan of larger watches, in particular RDs and Seiko divers.Over the last 3 days there have been 2 daily web deals on RDs. The price was so low they were almost free. AND I PASSED ON THEM!!!!:eek:What does this mean?!I'll tell ya what it means. I've just about scratched my Invicta itch. There are only 2 watches that I really want from them and they both require saving for. An SANIII with Valjoux 7751 movement and the othe is a Skeletonized Quinotaur RD with an ETA mechanical movement. Once I have these two I should be done withmy Invicta fetish....everything after that would be an impulse buy at best. Then I could concentrate on more important things like large vintage watches that I've missed out on or aquiring more watches of higher caliber than Invicta.I guess I've realized that I need to prioritize my WIS needs and an average RD just doesn't fit.
Possibly the most difficult link removal I've dealt with, but came out fine.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using Tapatalk
