1928 Barrel Engraved (Wreath). Yes, the dial has been refinished, but it looks great. Just back from a short stay at Sonny's Watch Spa:I got this one on the 'Bay on the same day as the (in)famous "is it or isn't it" two-tone Barrel. What was the final consensus on this one?Mine was just a few of listings down same page and seemed to be ignored. This is a watch you do not see everyday... here she is.. one of my favourates and this is why.. because for me it represents a lot of soul.... and demonstrates Panerais's Engineering Might and its ability to cater for the best......Mike Horn (a great South African modern day explorer, Chris must be pleased) started testing Panerai watches in 2001.. he planned a trip to treck the Antarktic and Panerai designed a special watch for him. it was AMAGNETIC where all the components would not get effected by the magnetic field and it also had special fluids as to operate on extream temperature.. Mike horn wore the watch during his trip and said at under -70deg C, all his sophisticated instruments froze on him with the exception to the Panerai ARKTOS. the Pam 92 ARKTOS was issued as limited edition of 500 in 2004.. after the first stage of the treck Mike asked for the watch to be modified to have the GMT function... Panerai then quickly modified the watch and sent it to him... hence

OK, Basel is here (well just about!). And now that it is... A thought just crossed my mind? What other industry/company (it's not just Rolex) are able to enjoy a ten year+ product life cycle? And, the product (I'm sensing that the Coke GMT on a jubilee is the most anticipated) that is getting the most people excited is a decade plus old model being reunited with a part from the seventies!!!We all know the other ultra hot non Rolex models AP5202, PP 5711, both models 40 years old. What other luxury product that contains mechanical and aesthetical components can endure this lifecycle?Are we all mad?

I just received my DateJust back from a overhaul at Dallas repair facilty, where they had it for 4 weeks. I got it back a few days ago, it looks brand new, better than expected. So today I synced it with the US NAVAL OBSERVATORY MASTER CLOCK at 1100hrs, and now at 2100 hrs the watch has gained 4 seconds already. This can not be normal. The watch gained time before it went in, enough to bother me, but I never sent it back to Rolex. Now I just spent another $750.00. It is going to be in spec. I just do not know what spec is. I heard =/- 1- second per day. Is this true. That would be reasonable and then some. I could live with 2-3 seconds per day. Anyone please help!!!
