New guy with a question
Hello all, I have been lurking in the forums for a few days and I am glad I have found this site. I have always had an interest in watches but never pursued collecting because I was afraid I would never have the kind of coin to drop on a nice A Lange and Shone or Patek. I have been wearing a Citizen's Chronograph for at least 8 years but I always assumed that these "lesser" Asian brands get no love. After doing a bit of research I have found they are a respectable piece for a new collector and that really got me excited. I am only 28 years old, recently married and don't really want to drop $2500 plus on a new piece at the moment but I would like a respectable watch for under $1000 (and even better would be 2 nice pieces for under $1000). Anyway, to my question.....I have read several stickies but I haven't covered them all so I apologize if you cannot help me with my question but I will ask it anyway.Is there a reputable online dealer to purchase watches from? 44mm RG or Pt weights?
Can someone with a grams scale please throw their 44mm RG or 44mm Pt on and lmk the grams please?I just read the smaller RGRC actually weighs more than the 44mm due to the sold case back, deployment buckle and RG bezel that's rubber coated.Would also love to know the weight of the 44mm Platty version too!Thanks all!

5146G-001 Purchase/Ordering Question
Is the 5146G-001 a piece that would be readily available from an AD or boutique; or is it something that would need to be ordered with a wait list? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger but before I go into the boutique I'm wondering what my expectations should be on timing. Not sure how in demand this model is at the moment, although it strikes me as a classic. Thanks for any thoughts.

I am just back from Montego Bay. Was in the shops and a store call Bijoux had many top brands but no Rolex. I asked the mgr and he said they have Rolex in their port store (for the cruise ships). I had him call about any stainless sports models...they had the Sub Date and a James Cameron Deep Sea. He offered it to me at 5% off their msrp of $11750 USD. Could have bought it at $11,116. I know, that is a great deal and I could flip it, but I passed. They didn't have it in the store I was at and I would need to come back. Also didn't want to deal with customs (although very easy) and selling. Anyone going to Jamaica and is interested, they probably still have it.
