UTS 4000M GMT Dive Watch
This is the latest watch from UTS Munchen. We've written before about UTS, it's basically the obsessive engineering of Nicolaus Spinner. Do you really need a watch that resists pressure from over twelve thousand feet of water? No, you do not. Do you want one? You just might.Simply called the UTS 4,000M, there are two versions, a GMT with the ETA 2893 and a 3-hander with the ETA 2824.Unlike most brands, UTS makes their own cases. Spinner is a mechanical engineer, and personally I have to say that watch-obsessed engineers make the most interesting watches. Think UTS, Damasko, ochs und junior, and probably others. You don't have to be a mechanical engineer, but it seems to help.Anyway. The 4,000M is a massive 45mm by 17.5mm, with 6mm AR-coated sapphire crystal, bidirectional ceramic bezel locking system and special glued and screw system for the crystal. Despite the abyssal rating, it does not need a helium escape valve, as the superior case seals preclude helium from ever intruding. Supe

Wobbly crown?
On a decent quality watch, is it acceptable that the crown is a little wobbly when it is pulled out? It doesn't appear that the stem is wobbly, just the crown. Since I don't know how the crown is attached to the stem (I hope I'm using the right terms) I don't know if this is okay or not. The watch in question is a Bulova Accutron automatic.Thanks for any info!

Hello TRF!,It has been a while since I've posted on here. Have to get back into the habit!I wondered if you all may be able to help me with a question. A friend of mine inherited a PP 3800 from his grandfather but was never told the value of the watch. he didn't realize what he had until it stopped working and he had to send it in for a rather expensive service, via his local AD, around 4 years ago.He did not wear it much after that, but when he thought of selling it he took it out of the drawer and it wasn't working again. Sent it back to Patek via the AD and did another full service. Not being a watch person, he's ready to get rid of it due to the service expense.I am considering buying the watch from him but thought it would be interesting to have the history of the watch. I have heard stories where Patek was able to dig into their archives and pull old papers from the watch, where it was purchased, service history, etc. Thought it would be neat to have all of that on a vintage piec
