Well, I made it through half of January without buying another watch. Just barely. I ordered this one today and will have it in my anxiously awaiting hands early next week.

Patek vs Patek (5127 vs 5227)
Hi folks, I am at a stage in my life when I am kind of getting close to finally get a Patek (late 30's). Looking to reduce the no of watches ans stick to 2-3 pieces that I will own on a long term.I have a Sub that is there to stay and the rest of the watches are subject to be put up for sale to fund the Patek or other watch.I am a big fan of the Nautilus but I cannot justify paying that much for it and the Calatrava makes a bit more sense as I ll always have a sports Rolex to compliment iting back to the 2 Patek models, I did a lot of reading and took a liking to the crown guards of the 5127. I tend to think it is one of the best buys. I also like the 5227 so I am considering it.SizeOf course we are looking at 37mm vs 39mm. I have no problem with 37mm as I am old school and still believe 35mm vintage pieces are great.Movement 315 vs 324Any pros and cons here?I look forward to hear other people's experience with these models. Patek resales
I hear people talk about the tremendous resale values (the best) of Patek Phillippe watches yet they seem to be discounted at grey dealers as much or more than some other high-end brands.No doubt very nice watches with a great history but where are the high resales? The older watches? Only select models?

DayDate40 or 5711a ?
So I posted this in the Patek sub forum, but wanted to see what the Rolex forum thinks. My AD (and longtime friend) believes he will be able to get me a 5711a white dial sometime this year. Nothing written in stone and of course with the current crazy market and shortages, it may or may not happen. The DayDate40 would be yg with sliver deconstructed romans. This would be for my wife, she did not really know much about watches before meeting me, now she's just as enthusiastic about them as I am.She currently wears a 116613 two tone blue submariner as her daily watch, and also has a Cartier santos, which is also two tone. She has always liked the 5711, ever since I showed a picture to her many years ago, however we were not in the position to buy back then. She also really likes the DayDate and has tried it on numerous times. She has tried on a 5711r, but has never seen the 5711a in person.We both wear our watches everyday and try not to baby them, however she has said that she probably

1998 Retail $ for Presidential model 8238
Does anyone have a US suggested retail price list covering 1998 or late 90's? If anyone else purchased a new day-date Presidential with a fluted bezel during that time period and knows what they paid, that would be helpful as well. I'm trying to confirm an approximate list price for my Presidential 18K day-date, fluted bezel at the time it was initially sold to me. Thanks in advance for any info.
